'The Four Feathers' by A. E. W. Mason...
« on: March 12, 2015, 01:18:09 PM »
Tidying through a dark, long forgotten corner of the Emporium this morning and came across this book, which is dated Christmas 1969... one of the Crimbo prezzies that so much contributed to the lifelong love of derring-do and toy soldier lunacy! A quick whizz through Wiki says Mason wrote three books along the lines of 'The Four feathers.', I know one was 'The Drum.', anybody know the other?
I should have been painting today, but finding this gem has led to several cups of tea and a lounge in bed. I'm just up to the bit where Ethne's bunged Harry Feversham (note:- it's really Fev not Fav!) her white feather to add to his collection. Chin up Harry lad... it's going to get a lot worse, before it gets better!

.'[/i], I know one was 'The Drum.'

I.e. the film?

I thought that the film was based on Kipling? So, is there another The Drum the form of a book?

Thanks for that, I really ought to read some sudan/NWf fiction.... problem is, as usual, i'm pressed for time and just about have time to squeeze in the historical literature and rules.

The irony is, the rules make for good bedtime reading as i invariably fall asleep!! If I'm reading good fiction, it keeps me awake!!  o_o :? o_o :D

I knew the warning was useless but as a fellow human being I had to make the effort  lol lol lol

Getting way OT but.....

You know, in a funny sort of way it would be quite useful to have a compilation of 60's songs of this ilk..... certainly useful when relatives have overstayed their welcome!!  :D ;D
