So, while I'm waiting for the right colour fine turf to arrive, I decided to crack on and paint the caves and the escarpment...


Here's the whole thing coming a little more together now.
Despite using the same paints as on the original donga terrain, I haven't quite got the colour of the cliffs the same. Not quite as yellow-brown. They will need a wash or two to blend them in with the originals.



Truthfully, although slight differences in paint colour seem quite striking on the bare groundwork, the addition of grass, scrub, tufts, bushes and foliage will tie everything together and largely conceal any tonal differences in the colours of the hard surfaces. Which is why it's important to get the colour of the grass matched as closely as possible.
Pending arrival of grass supplies, the next job is to make a start on the lid...
