Progress on the lid...
First the slab with its irregular frontage is carved down to approximate shape using hot wire cutter.
Then there's really no choice but to use a craft knife and a set of tweezers to hack and drag out the various trails and depressions in a messy, old fashioned way (because the hot wire cutter can't get into those sorts of angles).



Having got the basic shape, it's gradually sanded out (using the Dremel) shaped, and more mass gradually carved away with the hot wire cutter to achieve some natural looking gradients on the trails, which figures will be able to stand up on.
Then some extra pieces of foam carved and fixed in place with woodglue to form hilltops...


The first fix of greenery has now gone onto the new donga end section and onto the cave frontage / escarpment itself... More to follow...


Next step is to use wall filler to even out the slopes and properly contour the hilly ground on top of the cave system. Then apply the texturising gloop and rocky set dressing...
