Well...

That was quite a marvelous (and fairly arduous) project.  :-*

Hope you have lots of fun at BLAM, recharge your batteries (a few pints will help) and get back to painting some more minis.

You know, a day without seeing some of your fantastic art, is like a day without sunshine.  :)

Aww, thanks Ray - you say the nicest things  :)

Had the second test run of the game with a couple of LAF chums yesterday. All seemed to work well. A few more refinements made to the rules. Everything now packed up and ready for our event in a couple of weeks time... Just need to add one more predatory beastie to the mix, and all will be complete.

For those that have requested copies of the rules, I will post them in this thread after the BLAM event, as I don't want to give too much away to those that will be playing on the day  8)

Hopefully there should be a fine array of in-game pics too.

Hi Richard,

don`t think I didnt care much about your great work here at the cave wars table.
I only wanted to wait with my comments `til its almost done.

It looks fantastic. First i was a bit conflicted how both - the original Zulu board - and the cave will fit.
But seeing it  after its completion all my doubts are wiped away. The table looks great. The connection looks smooth and the colours fit.

The whole outfit : apes, women, cavemen, mammoth gaming components are all superb. Must be a joy to game all over this board.

best regards
Björn

Having seen it in the flesh and played the game it was a lot of fun and plenty of laughs were had.

I can't wait to see the reaction of those who get to play it at BLAM. Shame you won't be with us this year. :'(

I think it is very nice from Richard to give you the chance to make some training  on the board ;)

Ah, but Dirk, Nick won't be playing the game on the day, so it was okay to let him help test it  ;)

And thank you Björn :)

Thanks lads. Better wait until you see it!

Might be tricky Giles. On the evidence of the two test games I've played, despite my best efforts to keep it quick and simple, it's a 2.5 - 3 hour game. So I expect to get one game in during the morning, and one in the afternoon. Which would be difficult for you running your game.

But please be assured I'm always happy to run it again for you and any chums at a subsequent date. (Possibly as a 'guest artiste' evening in the Shed?)

Speaking of the Shed...

I think I'm going to have a major problem getting the terrain boards plus our inbound guests who I'm picking up from Gatwick into the car. Even in my wife's car, which is a seven seater.
So I might need to deposit the terrain boards at yours earlier in the week. (Yes, I have now realised that, with all the flora in situ, they may look nice, but are decidedly fragile when it comes to transportation, so it's going to need some careful handling...  ::))

Ah the price you pay for prettiness over practicality.

(That's the terrain boards I mean, not the wife ;))

No, Nick is easy to transport. The only reason he has such a big car is to squeeze in his man James.

Btw: Cave Wars is a great game to play. And beautiful to look at.
My LAF Gallery is HERE
Minis (foot & mounted) finished in 2025 = 74
(2024 = 38; 2023 = 151; 2022 = 204; 2021 = 123; 2020 = ???)

Played this game at BLAM15, absolutely brilliant. I was ravaged by wolves, beaten by apes, slashed by a Sabretooth, harassed by a Teradactyl, clubbed and stabbed by Neanderthals.
I didn't win but at least I didn't offer my females up for sexual favours to the Neanderthals (yes that happened in one of the other games) in order to distract them while the menfolk escaped.
Obviously I'm not ruthless enough lol.

Thanks Richard, Jeff
