:)

Thanks Matt.

No I won't be lining the cave interiors with cork bark - truthfully I hadn't thought of that, but I'm not sure it's necessary - and it would be a lot of work for little visual return.
The interior walls of the caverns and tunnels will be lightly carved and 'iced' in places with wall filler, to give some texture and a striated rocky impression. You're absolutely right - if I wanted to clad the interior cave walls with cork all round and still allow a figure on a 25mm round base to pass, the tunnels would need to be three times as wide - which would mean there'd be virtually no foam structure left holding the whole thing together!  o_o

I will be using sections of cork bark along the escarpment, and particularly around the cave entrances. Well, that's the notion anyhow. We'll see how it plays out...  :)

Having just secured space to build a table of my own, I'll be watching this very closely to get tips.

Good start but it's a shame you're not building a completely new board for the whole thing  :D

cheers

Promising start capt!

Could you not have quartered your old boards, make them 2x2 sections, that'll give you some more permutations?

Well considered. That should work better. I have also been considering melting polystyrene - the running goop should form interesting lime like deposits/stalegmites OR Hot glue.

I look forward to how yours goes :)

Cheers

Aha!

I shall make sure to bring my flint axe.

So far it looks positively 'in progress' and 'completely incomprehensible' to an amateur like me.  lol

I fully expect to be baffled as what looks like pink foam turns in to actual stone and dirt. God speed!
