Die cast vehicle compatability
« on: 09 April 2015, 05:10:37 PM »
Sorry, if this has been done to death before, but we do need to collect some wheels for the wide range of genres we play Pulp Alley in.
Is 1/48 the scale to go for? or is their another scale that works better for 28mm figures on bases?

Cheers,

Chris

1/50-1/48 is the scale I personally prefer but I collect larger minis.

1/48th-1/50th is what most people tend to go for..

Me I go with LR scale! (Looks Right) As long as you don't mix 2 of the same vehicle in wildly different scales.
Say 1/43rd with 1/50th? Nobody will really notice. (I carry a figure with me if I go to a toy fair or model show! Handy by eye scaling tool)  ;)

I tend to use Matchbox 'Models of Yesteryear' as they look right to my eye. The trouble is you can't then mix them with the Lledo range as they look too small against the Matchbox vehicles. Not all these vehicles are to scale with each other either, just to help matters!

I think most of ours are 1:48, but we have some that range from 1:43 to 1:56.

I have been collecting for a late 1940s to early 1950s film noir vehicle set, simply because they are easier to find.

Also some 1960s stuff for spy gaming, and contemporary military, emergency, and police vehicles for...I'm not sure yet.

Mostly Disney 1/50 'cars' with the eyes painted out, and M2 1/64 Cars (the larger ones look okay; nice trucks), Tonka strike force,  a couple of batmobiles....

In today's mail I got the Corgi 1:43 scale 1940s version of the Batmobile.  It looks great with my 28mm figures and my Heroclix.
