Great looking scenery.
Any thoughts of making some halfling/hobbit holes?

The only thing that really keeps me from it is that I doubt that I could provide the topshelf quality that I am after.

That looks amazing!

I am not sure if it has been discussed yet or not, but have you decided whether these will all be in resin or metal?

The terrain looks great! What are the dimensions of your terrain tile?

Thanks! The only issue that I had with former Kickstarters was the explosive P&P for everybody outside of the UK.
This was the main reason I decided to go with high quality resin. I received a fair few samples in the meantime and the quality is really good. That, and Resin is really nice to work with. (possibly not interesting to everybody, but I like head- and weapn swaps).

60x60cm - I aim to make a 120x240 board eventually.

The resin samples you sent me are really nice.  My only gripe was that the mold release agent was pretty stubborn.  I had thought I had washed them well enough and there are still a couple spots where the paint won't stick.  o_o  I guess proper preparation helps to prevent that problem though.  lol

Oh, that's very interesting - I didn't have this issue yet and I've painted nearly 100 of them by now! Thanks for letting me know anyway.

I am a metal fan myself, but I guess I have to pull it off with Resin now. I really think that it turns out nice.

I'm still fairly unfamiliar with resin as a material for ordinary figures (as opposed to vehicles, terrain pieces and the occasional big monster with no delicate parts) as I own very few figures made of it. I know there's differences between resin formulas (even excluding restic), some being more brittle than others. So I have to ask, how brittle is the resin you're using? I've been meaning to pledge for having the figures for gaming purposes (meaning they would be handled and lugged around a lot), and they would have to survive international shipping in my case.

I just need my fears soothed. Resin figures are a somewhat divisive subject in the hobby community, and the detractors do paint a rather unhappy picture of it. I know there are also supporters of it, but their usual assertion that "some resins are much better than others" always leaves me with the impression that buying resin figures can be a bit of a crapshoot, unless one makes sure to be very well-informed about what the manufacturer is using.

Westfalia has always been about top shelf quality, and I would never ever sell something that I don't want to play with myself.
With this in mind am I am happy to send you 1 or 2 sample figs for P&P only. the only thing I'd want in return is honest public feedback. :--)

I feel like I'm taking advantage, but I'd like to take you up on that offer (and I hope you won't get flooded with requests for free samples!). I'll send you a PM.

Mainly, though, what I was driving at was that there's probably a fair deal of uncertainty and apprehension regarding resin figures in the hobby community, and you might want to take that into special consideration when you write/film/photograph your KS promo, making sure people know and see that you're using the good stuff. I assume "high-quality resin" means resin that both takes good detail and has a bit of flex that keeps delicate pieces from snapping all too easily (at least, that's my imperfect understanding of what good resin is supposed to be like - again, I own very few resin figures so I'm largely going by second-hand knowledge). If you're making a promo video for the KS, it could be a good thing to show those qualities off, maybe flexing some spears and lances on camera, or something of that sort.

Even though resin figures (by which I specifically mean ordinary figures with delicate detail, not vehicles, robust monsters or terrain) have been around for a while by now, I wouldn't say that they're fully "settled" in the hobby community yet. I suspect there are other people like me who don't yet own many resin figures and are just hearing/reading divisive opinions about them from other hobbyists. Generally there seems to be a more fully-developed acceptance of resin figures among manufacturers than among customers. Every casting material has its pros and cons; one of the challenges of resin is that the seller may have to be extra proactive in instilling confidence in the product among customers.

I hope that makes sense. I'm trying to be constructive, not dismissive.

It's funny how you describe the reservations I had with resin. I guess it all boils down to the fact that resin can vary from excellent to rather bad.
That's why I already sent a fair few samples out to people and the feedback was very positive.

I think the best comparison with the Resin that Darall is using would be hard plastic. The detais are absolutely excellent. The only thing that could be considered less than perfect are the little bits of plastic card that prevent flash and bubbles in certain more tricky areas. But they can be safely clipped within seconds.

Anyway - I am looking forward to your pm. :--)

That sounds very good, thanks! I'm not exactly sure what you mean by little bits of plastic card (it's not something I've encountered so far), but I'll find out sooner or later and at any rate it sounds like a trifle.
