Great War German colour guide

Evening all,

Slightly pathetic and it must be said drunken request but no matter what I do I can't get me Great War Germans right! Please any colour guide for early and late would be enooormously appreciated...

I use Vallejo so help...please help...

Goat, a good starting point is what you do now. What colours have you used so far? There is no one colour guide, particularly for late war German uniforms. Black and white photographs show an enormous variation in the 'colours' of trousers and jackets. I suspect it is unlikely, therefore, that your current efforts are off the mark.

I think the Battlefront color guides are pretty decent, they helped me a lot when I painted WW2 forces.

Old Goat - in addition to the fine color guides already provided by our colleagues - I would like to point out that, particularly as the war progressed, German uniform colors became less "uniform" due to the effects of the blockade cutting off supplies (and the materials for analine dyes became harder to come by - so colors became more "fugitive), and older uniforms becoming more faded (even in 1918 photos you can still see some individuals in the same unit wearing 1914-15 uniforms and some wearing the Bluse).

I've just completed painting up my test Empress Tommy.  Beautiful model, another fantastic bit of kit from Paul.  About to try my Early war Fritz.

I bought a few different 'grau' pants at Salute last week so we'll see.

I've been having nerdgasms over the beautiful work of Over Open Sights work.  Wonderful painter and a top chap too...doubt I'll get close to that consistent quality but great inspiration nonetheless.

If I can work out how to post my finished men I will.

And there was a difference in the color of uniforms of regular infantry and of jaegers.  The jaeger green-grey originally had more green in it than the fieldgray of the regular infantry,
