Now I'm back in the grim darkness with a special model : The Galactic Bastard !

This model came with 4 heads so I had no choice but to paint (mostly) all of them !

Many inspirations in this model, will you be able to guess them all ? Answers in the blogpost HERE as usual ;)

Brilliant!
 :-* :-*

I love the idea of swapping the heads out.
Whereas my favourite head regarding the paintjob is the first one, that OSL looks great, I reckon the third is the most fitting for a Rogue Trader.
The others could of course be his combat gear and his 'disguise' head (Hannibal.. ;)).

What did you do with the fourth one?

Yeah, that first head is really ace!

I reckon the third is the most fitting for a Rogue Trader.
The others could of course be his combat gear and his 'disguise' head

This seems like a perfect take to me!

Although, reading what I wrote again, I have made him sound somewhat like Worzel Gummidge...... ::)

Since I have a game this Week End, I've decided to get a fistful of friends at the top of the painting queue. They're rather bulky and quite brutal at times but don't mention it in front of them...
They've received a rather speedy paintjob due to the deadline so don't look at the pics from too close ;)

As always, everything you want and should know is in the associated blogpost HERE.

He says this, then goes and posts a close up and it still looks awesome....  :?

They are enormously dynamic, which is quite meritable given the minis (which I love). But you managed to do an awesome paintjob on them, specially using only black! I would need some more colours to define shapes and embossings, but you made them shine just as dark as they are! Congratulations!

Agreed, those blacks are just lovely and still remain black rather than ending up as dark grey.

I know the all-black thing makes a lot of details disapear but I'm looking at a somehow Gigeresque look for them. In real life decorations are rarely painted the colour of what they represent after all. ;)
To keep the blacks dark I glaze with a strong black over a very bright grey on which I push contrasts to the max. It's a recipe I got from some pro painters and it works wonders !
