Cheers all !

Something a bit different now since I've had the will to get a full force of every faction (Nids, Eldar and the Imperium) for Space fleet, so here's the 2nd third done.
They're speed painted as you can see but I wanted something fast rewarding and with no nonsense. Washes over a white basecoat and a few details and they were done !

More about them in the blogspot as usual.

Well those look fantastic. 'Speed painting' you say!

Is Space Fleet fun? I have a sealed box. I loved BFG but I hear they are very different games.
a mixture of quick parts, sarcastic humour, reserve, and caprice.

Cheers !

@Dr Mathias : Space Fleet is very fun and very different from BFG. The basic rules (those  you have in the box)  fit on an A5 sheet and the advanced rules published in WD start from this core to add as many layers of complexity as you wish. This means you can tune how complex it is but the basics are very straightforward. I really enjoyed this one, trying to recreate old manoeuvers I read about in my dad's naval warfare books.
We'll be playing a few games at the Oldhammer WE in Newark this summer so hopefully some battle reports should be up as well.

Those Space Fleet ships look beautiful, very well done.  Always thought those were the best version of the Eldar minis aesthetically, much preferred them to the BFG ones, or the later Forge World designs that tried for something closer to the SF look.

Well those look fantastic. 'Speed painting' you say!

If you're going to play SF, you'll want to find the White Dwarf articles that expanded on the game.  They were spread over several issues (5, maybe?) and added a ton of depth to the game as well as setting the foundation for BFG/40K spce combat lore.  The box set by itself is very limited and rather bland, although the minis are pretty nice for their time period.

My goodness - I haven't seen Eldar Space Fleet models for... Well, too long really!  lol

Lovely work on them, really evocative of the old artwork. :)

I know; the grace and beauty, especially with that paint job, can't be beat.

Interestingly, back in the day, I thought some of the old Imperial ships, made more sense as either Slaneesh, or 'high Eldar' as compared to these 'pirates'.  lol

And, yes, it does say pirates in some of the literature. Stoopid hummie prop...

Matt, I think it takes about 5 White Dwarfs to make enough variety to make the game interesting. I seem to think it started with 138, then off and on, but I'll dig up my notes elsewhere.

The board is squares, and relatively few, and the dice mechanic, roll into the box lid with a tic-tac-toe grid, was not everyone's cuppa.

Always loved the 'nid ships, too.

Cheers guys, as you said Doug, SF is very simple and fun and doesn't require a lot of the advanced rules to be very enjoyable, really.

Now to get back into the swing of things after the painting hyatus due to holidays, I've decided to finish a little guy I had started just before leaving. Quick job just as a warm up really but fun, I love those little guys who take so little time, very rewarding. ^^

You can read more about him in the blogpost.

And here's a group that's been waiting for too long on the table ! The release of Shadow wars almost looked made for them so I decided to get them done at last ! lol
They're kitbashed from various sources but I wanted a group of evil looking non chaotic warriors (you tell me if I succeeded).
The standard of painting on those is honestly pretty low. I first got them half done but got tired and sick of them (11 models at once is just above what I can manage with ease now) so when I came back, I decided to lower the standard and go for some nervous painting rather than a refined one. They're still tabletop worthy so that's all that matters.

Close ups and descriptions in the blogpost as usual.

I wish I could do conversions and paint like you lol. The Slaughterpriest is just genius, beautiful work all around. What stats are you going to use for them on SW:A?

Given how they look and the parts used, I reckon Astra Militarum, Admech or Hybrids would fit. :)

I wish my standards were that high. The conversions and painting are really good. Love the slaughter dude.
