 Hi guys

I’ve added gasmask containers and weapons, and mounted them, then undercoated and given the bikes a few coats of panzer grey, happy with how they are turning out so far.

 Hi guys

As my Heer motorcycle recon platoon is well underway to being painted, I’m looking at my next project, a cavalry recon unit, using a variety of parts, legs are from Italeri Gaul cav, green bodies are Armourfast German tank riders, there’s a couple of italeri motorcycle riders, a Prieser and Caesar body, and 1 Revell artillery set rider, horses are from Revells artillery set, Italeri Gauls, and British hussars.

At this stage of the process, I’m just looking for poses that look natural, details aren’t so important as I’ll be doing a fair bit of green stuff work, I’ll be changing most of the heads and some weapons and adding detail to the horses.

Very cool - and very good imagination/ vision from you to be able to see the Gaul and other kits as usable as the base for WWII Germans.

I’m kind of surprised with WWII being such a major thing in 20mm that there aren’t some existing options available.

There is the Caesar and Waterloo 1815 sets, but they are getting hard to find, and to be honest, for me personally, I’d end up converting them to my own tastes anyway, so may as well go from scratch, the good thing about modelling putty’s, is you can turn any periods figure into another period, I’ve even turned wwii Brits into Napoleonic Wurtembergers, the 2 on the left are from the Italeri wwii British set.

You clearly have the skills to make the conversions look good, so more power to you to get the look you want!

Me, I can just about fill gaps with putty!

It’s just practice, have you given in a go? Just do small areas, and push the putty into the shape you want, put aside, let dry and repeat, it’s more time consuming than anything.

 Hi guys

After completing my own bike combos platoon, I am now doing a set on commission. I received a few comments on how some people wish they could sculpt with green stuff to achieve the same troops, so I have decided to take a different route with this lot, to give inspiration/ideas to those that have limited green stuff skills, for this lot I’ll try and use as much detail of existing figures, I’ll still need to use some green stuff, but will try and keep it limited, I’m using the same Italeri bike set x 4, the sidecar seated infantry will be ABs German seated infantry in greatcoats (link below), I’ve done some minor surgery to get them to fit, next I’ll give them head swaps to helmets, the only GS I’ll use on these figs is the raincoat flap across the back shoulders, I’m going to rummage through my plastic figures for greatcoated torsos to convert the riders.
