What a great line of posts.
Not much in to Judge Dredd.
But love your figures and terrain.
Thanks for sharing.

#29 Servo Droid VAL-8

Another robot from me, a Pig Iron miniature this time.  It sat on the table half painted since I painted the servo droid during the the Summer, so with time being a bit short at the moment I finished it off for this weeks submission.

The sculpt is quite nice, with a slightly downtrodden, perpetual servitude sort of vibe.  Pig Iron make another variant, but it isnt available separately, so I dont have it.  If anyone reading happens to have the other version of that model for trade then let me know please :)

The blog post is HERE for anyone interested.

Mr Saturday will be posting next week as usual.  Thanks for looking!

I like the robot, decent non-armed robots aren't easy to find.

I had no idea there was a Roberto figure; "where's my stabbing knife?"

Wonderful, subtle colour scheme and I still love the way you highlight your figures.

Another great addition to the thread. Very simple yet elegant use of color here. That robot looks like he never gets a day off.

And since I haven't mentioned it recently, the Mantic Deadzone terrain is just about perfect for Judge Dredd. I just love your terrain.

Nice addition. Not too complicated or elaborate, but damn effective. Great one.

Its available from Armorcast, where its possible to find a few other similarly themed models if you fancy them Elk101.

Thanks Mason.  I push the highlights a bit further than some do I suppose, but thats just something that gradually happened, rather than something that I originally set out to do.  If the contrast isnt visible from about a metre away, then it is in some respects probably not worth doing I reckon.

Thanks.  I want the robots to look like mass produced products rather than individually crafted items.  The limited, almost Tupperware or Lego like schemes help with that.  Its also one of the things that I like about the official Judge Dredd robots from Mongoose, they have simple, modular looking exteriors.  I know that the robot designs got some stick when they were released, but I think that they nailed it really.

That robot looks like he never gets a day off.

Precisely :)  Thats the appeal of the figure to me, it conveys a little narrative all on its own.

And since I haven't mentioned it recently, the Mantic Deadzone terrain is just about perfect for Judge Dredd. I just love your terrain.

The Mantic terrain definitely generates the feel of a certain part of MC1, but the environment is so huge that all sorts of things can be justified.  I do think that this take on it is working out well so far, although it will never be in competition with the likes of JimBibbly or AndyMs terrain.  Thats ok too though, horses for courses and all that.

I have literally ten times more Deadzone terrain than I have photographed to date assembled and sprayed since January.  Im hoping to allot some time to finish at least some of it off and get my MC1 looking a bit more built up soon.  I will probably start another thread for that though.

Nice addition. Not too complicated or elaborate, but damn effective. Great one.

Thanks Malebolgia.  Simplicity definitely has its place in toy soldiers.

Your minis by themselves are great, but when you put all of them together and with the terrain... Well, that's something else! :-*

This week sees something of a red letter day in my submissions for Judgement Day. An actual judge. It was a real treat painting him, and seeing the familiar colours of the Mega City One judiciary come together as the paint went on only added to the enjoyment. I see a lot more judges in my painting future. I may even give old stoney-face himself a go.

Judge Williams here is not the most by-the-book judge, but several commendations for insane bravery have kept him off the Titan shuttle. He is currently kicking his heels as Bruce Campbell block judge, and it time he will lead an Apocalypse War resistance unit with the BC Block Citi-Def. His faithful boomsti... I mean lawrod will come in handy. It'll be...

...groovy.

This also defines my approach to any zombies for Judgement Day. It's deadites all round.

Judge Williams looks hard as! Love the face and the base on this guy - both really enhance the character.

Lovely paint job on this one. That's also a really great sculpt. Looking forward to seeing more of your Judges in the future.

Thanks all. He's probably one of my favourite judge sculpts, nice clean detail and his pose is great.
