Oh, nicely done Mr Saturday! 8)

What is the proper name for that weapon anyway? Is it actually a 'Lawstick'?

EDIT

It's a scatter gun I think. The Widowmaker is the shotgun/rifle combo or fully automatic shotgun I think.  The Lawrod is a rifle, I think.

Nifty figure Mr S  :-*

From Wikipedia:

Quote

Lawrod
The lawrod rifle was the standard rifle carried by all street judges in a holster on the side of their lawmaster bikes. It became obsolete and was replaced with the Widowmaker in 2114.

[SLIDES GLASSES UP NOSE.  HALF CLOSES EYES PATRONISINGLY]

I think thats incorrect actually.
Generally it was the scatter gun holstered on the Lawmaster, Im pretty certain.

Quote
Widowmaker
The Widowmaker 2000 is a fully automatic shotgun used by street judges. It was introduced in 2114 to replace the obsolete lawrod rifle. It was introduced to the comic strip in the story "Judgement Day".

These photos (from Mongoose or Warlord) poorly illustrate the difference:

Lawrod

Widowmaker

This is the Justice Department weapon sprue.

Info on the Mongoose and Warlord sites regarding these sprues is incomplete, but Im pretty certain that they are as follows, in corresponding order:

Lawgiver MkII
Lawrod
Scatter Gun
Lawgiver MkI
Stub Gun
Widowmaker

I think that the comic may have been inconsistent with what weapon constitutes what.  Mongoose have put two and two together and got five before also.

In the Dredd vs Death video game out in the early 2000s, the Lawrod had sniper mode and burst automatic mode. Another weapon, the "Arbitrator" was the shotgun.

Phew.  I went full on trainspotter there for a second... breathe Paul, breathe...

Looking at those examples it looks more like the scattergun than lawrod.

Well, it could be anything you want it to be, really.

Warlord/Mongoose sell it as a Judge with Lawrod.
It seems that they have labeled other things as lawrods as well, which I suppose is perfectly consistent with the comics.   ;D

Also, what gives it away as a lawrod to me is the dial it has on the back, consistent with the dial the newer lawgivers have.  Probably could be considered a "new" model lawrod.

But here is an older Dredd with a lawrod, which more closely matches that specialist judge model:

Where is that Judge Williams figure from, it's very nice? I don't see it in the Warlord or Foundry catalogue.

It's exclusive to the starter set I think. There is a female gang leader with a mohawk that is similarly limited.

Fantastic thread, great paint jobs and some all-round excellence  :-*
I had a lot of fun painting up some Foundry Judges and SJS for my round 9 entry in last season`s LPL Season 9 and this whole thread sure takes me back and inspires me to tackle some more MC1 in the lead mountain. Thanks for sharing!

You are more than welcome D@arth J@ymz, its a project that could run and run for us I reckon.

I must have seen that LPL entry.  Do you have a link?

Meanwhile, a bit later this week than usual...

#31 Butlerbot P3R-C

An OOP Megaminis figure that I decided to press into service in Mega City, P3R-C is intended to represent one of the many robo-sevants seen in the pages of Dredd stories.

The figure is a little crudely sculpted, but it has some character.  I particularly like the idea of it being the head of the robot staff in an "Upstairs Downstairs" sort of environment.

The colour scheme is a continuation of the previous too servo droids in this project.

The associated blog post is HERE.  Thanks for looking!

Brilliant, I love all these robots of yours, they are so full of character.
 :-* :-*

When I saw Butlerbot my first thought was of the EotD clockwork one that may well work in MC-1 as well.

As a kid I always wanted the robot and alien Star Wars figures, not the humans.  In many respects Im still that same.  Im glad that you like them Mason.

Thats perfect!  :-*  I must track one fo those down.  The other butlerbot that I am after is this Copplestone figure, the one in the centre:

Im not sure what game would require three robot butlers, but Im 100% certain that I can come up with one :)
