Help Finding Figures ACW
« on: 09 May 2015, 05:57:31 PM »
Hello all, I am looking for 25 or 28mm heavy fortified gun crews  such as would be used for Coastal fortified positions during the ACW.
Any sugestions for possible conveting figures also welcomed.

Thank you,
 Jim

What do the uniforms look like (or what's the points of difference to field artillery crew)?

And who makes those big guns (I know someone does, but I'm drawing a blank)? Thye might also have crew on their site.

I'm sure you've already looked, but just in case you haven't try Redoubt...they have a large selection of artillery and mortar crews that may prove appropriate

I have found some images and the conversions should not be very dificult (I hope).
Ahh yes, thats were I seen those before, on the Redoubt site.

The differences being the extended rammer and sponge, also Handspike, budge barrel, powder monkey with pass box and of course an oversized shot round..

Still can't find the company that makes the guns, but here's another manufacturer, T.A. Miniatures:

The old RAFM company out of Canada (not sure if they are still in business) had the large siege/costal battery guns you are looking for.  The crews are only fair, but the guns are very nice.

Redoubt Gunners, some in frock coats:

http://www.redoubtenterprises.com/shop/?page=shop/browse&category_id=cdc3393f6658e5c2ae4daba39320087d

These Redoubt figures do seem to be the route I will take with them having the various poses and some being shell coat and also in shirt seem to fit the bill.

The other question now being will these work with the Houston 25mm line of heavy guns that I recently purchased on e bay and are currently with the postal delivery.

I know that the redoubts are on the large size. I have redoubts in my possesion and will compare them to the guns when they arive, and if not the desired look, I can maybe buid my own barbetts to elevate the guns.

If I remember correctly Renedra used to do a variety of such guns...... I'm not sure they do them anymore but there's no harm in asking(?). might well be worth your while.

If not Renedra then Architects of War(?).

Not my thing the ACW but I think the two suggestions I've made might bare fruit- hopefully anyway  :)

Darrell.

For artillery crew, I really like Dixon and Redoubt myself… For guns, they’re well hidden within their site, but HLBS Co. have very nice coastal artillery pieces…
