Breath taking...  reminds me of being a kid, looking at museum stuff at eye level and just imagining being there.

WOW! Thank you very much for all your comments.

There is one more news about this topic. It is the 28mm miniatures of Carl von Alten specially made for the exhibition by Jens Najewitz (sculpted by Frank Germershaus). Actually it is a group of 4 miniatures…Carl von Alten, his servant, his horse and dog. The special thing is the group of miniatures is modeled on the painting in the exhibition:

You can buy the miniatures here: http://www.lasermodellbau.de/index.php/de/component/jshopping/product/view/57/769

Hi Gents,

Just ordered this figure so cannot wait to get my grubby little hands on it and paint it up.

I absolutely never, ever will get tired of visiting this thread and the Celle website.

This is truly superb in its truest sense.

Cheers

Carlo

I was able to drive through Celle the Sunday before last, and I have to say, as wonderful as the photos are, they pale in comparison to the display.  It's huge! Almost everyone at the exhibit was staring at it in stunned silence.  It's beautifully arranged and covered with wonderful and very lifelike vignettes that add a "human aspect" to the innumerable ranks of soldiers.

In an anteroom there's also a beautiful diorama of the Hanoverian Army's celebrations on the erection of the Waterloo "victory column", made with "flats" from a long-extinct company.  And the rest of the exhibit is very interesting as well - lots of worthwhile information about the KGL and other German troops at the battle.
Now what is this whole life of mortals but a sort of comedy, in which the various actors, disguised by various costumes and masks, walk on and play each one his part, until the manager waves them off the stage?
