Thanks all for the wonderful comments. I think this is broadly the look I was going for so...success :D

Totally and utterly insane!

Working on the unfinished building now. WIP shots to come soon I hope.

Ooops. I've been distracted by Fenris Games Paintalockdown competition so i'm taking a model I've had on the resin pile for AGES to try and crack it this week.

I'm going to turn it into one of Vaultec's numerous post blast exploration vehicles, held in the bays of vaults until the rad dust settles to go out and re-colonise the wasteland. This one is the Vaultec Ranger. As ever it fell into the bits box on the way to being photo'd. I'll add all the cargo straps on once some of the basics are painted.

And I must flag up the bike. A bit of a find on HLBS's site. Just wonderful model.

Back to the main board. The unfinished building next to Osprey Farm is going to be a temporary hotel for drifting wastelanders who have been drawn into Junktown's embrace. Like any PA town, Junktown needs fresh blood to stay strong, so it welcomes waifs and strays and gives them a place to stay, the Travelers' Rest, until they can find (or build) themselves a proper home.

I'm going for that grimey feel many Fallout hotels have, with threadbare mattresses and peeling walls. Here's a few WIPs.

A bit of a hostile hostel, as it were?  :D

I need to learn the secrets of peeling paint. That looks great!

Damn, that's a great way to make the Plasticville stuff looking good outside AND inside. Never even tried to improve the interiors.

Hostile Hostel indeed! Keep your boots close and your guns closer still.

The walls are quite simple. I stuck some thin MDF bases on to add some thickness and imitate plaster board and then covered them with Crackle Paste. Waited till it dried and then picked some of it off with a scalpel. It's not perfect and I suspect salt and hairspray on plasticard would work just as well if not better, but I fancied giving it a try. Now I've just got to work out how to paint it.

First, plus one to all the plaudits. Again I am in awe.
Second, can you paint the wall first, add a different
colour to the crackle paste? That way you don't have to
worry about painting it.

That's a great idea - will have to give it a go!
