Ha! That's awesome. Well, Rick Priestly is involved in the project, so it makes sense  :)

(Still not as awesome as the original though)  ;)

Yes, one rather gets the impression of a deliberate homage.

To be fair, GW has put out a lot of images depicting these kinds of Sci-Fi battles.

They are also not above using existing imagery for reference :)

Not as bad as the comic book artists who use porn stills as reference for drawings...  :o

Do we have a release date for Antares yet?

Mantic have also been paying homage to GW on other fronts.

(Lifted from Wargames news and terrain)

The GW orriginal, newly installed to commemorate launch of 'The Age of Sigmar'

And the Mantic homage:

Years of 'Separated at Birth?'s allow me to accept the possibility of coincidence, or even more likely, unsupervised artist musings, but that IS brilliant!

Also, heavy kudos to the lads at Mantic! We loves the deflating, we does.  :D

Jim Burns painted that Space Marine image and often uses photographic references.

I assume that piece was a freelance job.
