Well, early British army in gaiters are a relative rarity. The strange Albion Miniatures experiment and Brigade Games  Egyptian range are all I can think of in mainstream 28mm.

Dixon and Old Glory also do 1801-1807 British infantry in 28mm. The Dixon figures are quite nice as they are done in a completely different style from the ACW range, though they are a bit on the small side - more 26 than 28mm.

The Old Glory figures are, erm... Old Glory.

Carlist Wars, I agree - a very niche, esoteric choice, obviously pursued from a personal interest point of view. I can't believe many people bought into this, but again, maybe I'm wrong.

While it is unquestionably a niche period, it seems to have generated enough interest to produce a number of good-looking demo games on the British convention circuit over the past few years. The quality of the Perry sculpts and the Carlist War companion book by Conrad Cairns undoubtedly helped fuel the fire...  :)

That said, my own exposure to the first Carlist war largely predates the Perry range as I remember reading a series of Wargames Illustrated articles about it late in the previous century.

That article was written by Conrad too if it's the one I'm thinking of(?). Or possibly just the uniform info(?).

He's a member of our club so I'll ask him next week.

Yes, 'twas him all right. He did a whole series of 1st Carlist War pieces for WI in the mid 90's, three articles if I remember correctly - possibly four.

I need to find those articles.
"Peace" is that brief, glorious moment in history when everybody stands around reloading.

Yeah, I borrowed the copies taken from the mag from the club library a couple of years ago with a view to buying, painting and playing- unfortunately I couldn't find anyone who wanted to collect an army so it went on the bucket list.

Now, with Conrad around, I can almost certainly get stuck in to the range- eventually :)

Yep, they're all in the folder that Conrad has left in our club library, next to his book of course :)

Alan wrote on the Perry FB page he also intends to do French troops for the Egyptian campaign, presumably in the late 1799 issue so-called Kléber uniform.

It's too bad I've already purchased enough figures from Brigade Games to do a full infantry division in Kléber uniforms at 1:20, along with its supporting artillery and cavalry brigade    :?

These Paul Hicks sculpts are way too nice to be discarded (and to be honest, I expect the forthcoming Perry sculpts to be equivalent but not superior in quality to the BG stuff), but I'll welcome a few new command figures, especially additional standard bearers and drummers.
