6mm test buildings (updated 9/7)
« on: 02 August 2015, 07:43:22 PM »
A few years ago I scavenged a few pieces of a honeycomb sheeting from my workplace.  I thought it would be useful for terrain making.  It just looked like a wall of broken out windows.  I finally decided to really see what I could do with it this weekend.

These two buildings are a test to see what I can make.  This is not my scale so I am learning as I go as well as learning how to handle a new material.
Please forgive my low quality painting it is not my strong suit but I am always willing to hear suggestions!

The base material and spraypainted black.

Urban Warzone

I think even with my simple paint scheme, in bulk, this could be an effective cityscape to play across.

Thanks for looking

"That looks really cool."
I just said that out loud, at work. Fortunately I work alone. Unfortunately you have me talking to myself.
I'd say your idea is working already. Please post some more shots when your city has grown.

They look very convincing as buildings with the windows blown out - may be worth trying one with some vegetation growing over it?

Looks great and would work perfect for a destroyed city me thinks! I like the vegetation idea, or even cotton puffs for smoke?

Thanks for all the kind words.  I had almost given up on wargaming and had not touched any of my stuff for almost 6 months.  It felt good to get the paint brushes out again.

I am hoping to get my hands on a pile of new materials for this weekend to build more.

I will definitely try some with overgrown vegetation on it.  That is a really good idea.
Nothing glued on but I think that idea really has potential.

Thanks again,
DZT

That looks awesome...some rubble at the bottom and you're set.  And of course...more paint on the Victor.

Awesome results. Looks like a building right out of "I Am Legend". The vegetation is a great addition.

:o The vegetation definitely gives it a glow, certainly less dark-nuclear apocalyptic and more abandoned  :)

Great work!  I really like it for Alpha Strike, or BattleTech, or whatever! :)

Great idea and great work.  I might have to steal your idea if I can find some of that packing material.
