Alternative Minis for Oldhammer Style Chaos Warriors?
« on: August 05, 2015, 03:51:23 PM »

With the Dungeon Saga Kickstarter delivery getting closer and closer, I find myself wanting to add a handful of evil, heavy armored humans to my collection.  You know, old-style (circa 3rd Edition WHFB) metal Chaos Warriors!  But I don't want to hunt down the old sculpts or pay collectors' prices for them...

Are there any manufacturers that make oldhammer style not-Chaos-Warriors or similar enough?  I've done some searching around the internet but haven't found anything to scratch the exact itch I'm looking for.  So, I thought I'd ask the collective wisdom of Lead Adventure for suggestions!

Can anyone point me towards anything suitable?

Ral Partha: http://www.ralparthaeurope.co.uk/shop/ral-partha-fantasy-c-37/fantasy-armies-c-37_39/chaos-imperium-c-37_39_45/
I specially like these Chaos knights esculpted by Bob Olley (on page 6):

I found myself asking the same question recently. Nice suggestion for Forlorn Hope, but ant two bladed miniatures?

Eastern Front Studios has that Antiquis Malleum oldhammer range, but Avast won't let me into the site to see if they have any specific chaos warrior types. (Bing bing bing!)

Though while I was looking, I found this too.

I would say that their evil knight is a reasonable candidate, but still no two bladed knights I'm sad to say...

The AM greens were sold by Mick and is now part of another Oldhammer Project, Pantheon of Chaos
Tim Prow is also kickstarting another Oldhammer project with Drew (who sculpted the AM chaos warriors)  going live later this year

Cool. Tim Prow has a certain style I quite like. Greens so far look very nice  :).
Ral Partha Europe sell some of the old Heartbreaker models; you might find some old school Chaos Warriors over there, but not sure if they got 2-handed swords or polearms.

Some nice greens in the works for that kickstarter campaign.

Thanks for the Midlam link, Vermis - good to know where many of the old Metal Magic sculpts wound up, as there are a few I missed back in the day.
