My Historicon game that won a PELA award.
Scenario was an Indian attack on the farm with the objective of destroying buildings and killing or capturing civilians etc.
The Indians had 9 warbands of 6 figures each plus 3 leaders, the settlers had a 12 figure unit of pike/musket militia with a leader and a preacher, 2 units of 8 Settlers Guard with a leader who were escorting wagons, a unit of 8 Rangers with a leader and 11 settlers (4 men, 2 women and 5 kids). Livestock was made up of sheep, 2 cows, a bull, 3 goats, pigs and chickens.
The Settlers were positioned at the start of the game except the Rangers who had to die roll to come on, the Indians were allowed to deploy anywhere they liked except that no more than 2 warbands could set up together.
In the first game the Settlers were unorganised and that lost them the game as they were always trying to catch up.
In the second game the Settlers were more organised, they managed to save the majority of livestock and only 1 civilian died as a house collapsed from being set on fire, a second civilian – Mary Hawkins – was captured by the Indians and led of into captivity ( next game is The Rescue of Mary Hawkins....) despite her son Richard kicking an Indian where it hurts and killing him. Wrestling the Bull was dangerous for the Indians but they did manage to capture a cow and the chickens.
Figures are a mix of Brigade Games, Crusader, Perry, Conquest, Front Rank, Foundry and Warlord Games. A number of the Indians were converted to carry bows.
