I took the opportunity to take some snaps of some of the HYW English that I've been painting and rebasing on Thursday gone at the club with a bit of scenery in the background. Some of them had already been painted up- others (two bases) painted fairly recently. With my ongoing obsession about Late Medieval warfare this will almost certainly be an ongoing project for the rest of my life!

You can see many (and I mean a lot!) more pics on my La journee Blog here:

http://lajourney-bedford.blogspot.co.uk/2015/08/battle-of-verneuil-english-re-basing.html

Anyway, here are some of the results:

There are another 17 good pics on my blog  :) ;)

Yeah, it's a brilliant pack. I usually snap up an packs of this nature that the Perry's produce for their ranges as they never fail to look the part on my vignette style of basing.

I've got a great one for the Sudan too but more on that at a later date.

Close ups added:

Here are some close ups that (I hope!) will elucidate how the individual bases act as mini vignettes telling their own story and by adding more bases of how the overall story is depicted:

Great work. I like how each base tells a story. Very well done.  :D

Very lovely, and full of character.
Now what is this whole life of mortals but a sort of comedy, in which the various actors, disguised by various costumes and masks, walk on and play each one his part, until the manager waves them off the stage?

Thanks guys  8)

Yeah, that's what I always aimed for with my basing Ray. I've never liked the idea of mini's looking like automatons lined up in neat rows as this is simply not how things played out in most Medieval battles. I'm not a big fan of singularly based mini's either. I had my fill of that with WAB though I was known for breaking the odd basing rule on a few occasions.

The Perry ranges are taylor made for setting up mini diorama/vignette type bases.

Very nice diorama-basing!  8)

I think those minis would fit, style-wise, with my old Perry-sculpted late-80's Bretonnian Archers (of which I have about 8, if I can find them all) - but would they size-wise, do you think?
Ask at the LAF, and answer shall thy be given!

Thanks  :)

What I've found is that if you pop the odd one in no one will be any the wiser unless they go looking for it.

They do fit well though the heads and weapons are noticeably larger.... a good lick of paint can usually fix that  8).

They look great all together a fantastic diorama feel.you can just picture a wave of French men at arms foundering under a storm of English arrows.I enjoyed watching these come together and the end result is brilliant
