This one really impressed me:

Mostly because I actually recognized it from an actual spot at Angor Wat:

Oh. Man.

That is pretty epic (specs say 6.75x4x9 inches).

I am going to *have* to get me a one of those...

That makes two of us... lol Epic find Kegluneq! It is looking like Etsy for surface details and statues, Chess sets for statues, and Aquarium pieces for larger bits will be the way to go. Thanks all for the suggestions, keep 'em coming because this has turned into a fine discussion and community resource.

If you're looking at chess sets, the Harry Potter one looks pretty good.

I think chess sets in general are worth checking out.

Some can be fairly pricey, alas.  But then buying a bunch from miniature companies adds up pretty quickly too.

There is a scenario idea here too!

Somewhere in the frozen city is a giant chess board where the pieces are Contstructs or Demons bound to the confines of the playing area. Opposing warbands can substitute themselves for playing pieces and then engage in a game of chess with a difference. The pieces would move like chess pieces but the Wizards/Apprentices/Soldiers would move a number of squares equal to their movement. One action per side per turn. If you move onto an opposition piece/soldier then you fight consecutive rounds of combat until one piece/soldier is destroyed. Each time a piece is destroyed a treasure token replaces it (and is automatically picked up) to get your treasure to a place of safety, you have to get it off the board at your opponents end, a bit like replacing your queen.
