That all works rather well!  I love seeing the classic old figures come out to play.

The Apprentice is first rate, never seen that one before.

Cheers, chaps.
Some of my favourite all-time classic figures are in this bunch, so getting a chance to use them at last is great.
The 'Apprentice' being one of those.
 :D

This is a very good tip - I've just used it to rebase 10 old Citadel knights onto the Frostgrave bases - only 1 tab snapped off, and fortunately that figure balanced very well on his feet, so hopefully he will stick as is.

I had been a bit stuck on how to base tabbed figures on thin bases - and this method works really well. I'd had a go at cutting a bit of a slot out of the base, but this was hard to do, and then need a lot of the tab cutting off.

Bending the tab and gluing with a little green stuff, works much better.

I will give it a go, although I really wont be too bothered if the tab snaps.
I have done this to plenty of figures in the past and am going to do it to a whole army of Melniboneans soon.....
 ;)

 lol lol
Not too bad, you git, as I already have everything.
 ;D ;D

AND...I always wanted to rebase those Kislevites.
Making snowdrifts is something that will also come in very useful elsewhere.
 :D

Well, the tab removing and re-basing is done and I only lost one foot in the process.... ::)
This was easily rectified with a little green stuff and lost among the freshly fallen snow so not a problem.

Here they are on their new, oh-so-white bases....

A few close-ups shall be forthcoming later when I have time to crop the pictures...

They look great! Flat round bases are the best. I'm clipping the tabs of my OOP ebay buys too, so your're not alone  lol

Nice to know that I am not the only heretic!
 :D

I have done some more 'tab-chopping' to convert some Dwarves that I have into 'Frostgrave-Lurkers'...

In fact, I am considering giving the round base treatment to all of my Fantasy Warbands as well.
It looks so much better.....

More pictures have been posted on my Mordheim thread, including close-ups,  as these can be used there too.

The wizard, apprentice and a new construct will be added to this band soon.

Absolutely beautiful, and the color palate really ties them together.   I love the "offical" figures for the game but its always great fun to see what people are doing with other miniatures.  I think your group is one of the nicest I've seen!   :)

Thank you, sir!
 :D

I agree with the comment about the official range, there are some wonderful sculpts in there and I may well grab some at some point.
The cultists are a MUST at some point, but they will see other use.

The reason that I am using alternate figures is that I already have them and the Dwarves really need a reason to see a game table at some point AND I now have an excuse to paint the remaining figures that I am going to use for this band.

Great stuff.

(Although I still can't shake the whole square bases for Fanatsy thing. I have tried on a few figures but they just don't look 'right' .... I guess I have just been looking at them on square bases for too long).

Maybe your eyes have gone square from looking at them so long.

Over 20 years gaming and modelling miniatures. Why the hell didn't I think of that tab bending method by now? Idiot!

Thanks for sharing.  Great warband too!

And agree on the square based. Digging thru my old WHFB minis for Frostgrave reminded me how much I didn't like them - especially the models that slotted in at 45 degrees. You know corner to corner. Not only did they look odd alone but when in a unit it looked like they had spotted something far more interesting to look at in the opposite direction to his comrades.

Round bases are the way to go! Love your warband, they look great, and some nice preslottas in there.

Now why didn't I think of bending the tab, dammit?

Love those warbands!
I envy those who already have lots of old minis to use - Frostgrave is costing me a bundle... (oh well...)
