Totally missed these over the weekend. :o Fabulous stuff! Painting Late Romans at the moment, too, so yours/redzed's are a great inspiration.

Late Romans and foes - now with added cats! 30/8/15

Here's another unit painted by Shaun and based by me, the Equites quarti clibanarii Parthi. I am really delighted with these; lovely Gripping Beast miniatures painted by a true artist.  Below, in cuneus.

Thanks chaps!  When you blow a photo up that big, and the minis still look OK, then you know they aren't too shabby!

Lovely looking units, and for people like me with limited time to do the research an excellent resource. :)

Really lovely stuff Simon- I've been a bit slow on the uptake in why you were painting up Late Romans presently (it's just dawned on me now! I must be tired with all this moving business!!)

 :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-*

See you on Sunday :)

Darrell.

Thanks chaps!

Hi Darrell, we probably won't need them on Sunday; James, Steve and Scrivs have such marvellous collections they will be redundant!  Mostly I'm basing them for my November game at the Wargames Holiday Centre, and because... they are really super!

More cats tomorrow.

Aww.... that's a shame- bring one unit along so i can take a snap or two at least :)

i've seen James and Steve's collections in the form of WAB (back in the day!) and Dux Britorum (Partizan demo). They looked amazing- I believe some of the mini's might have belonged to Tom too(?)

Sounds interesting..... something that i've b=never really considered as a holiday thing.... however, I'm single now so no-one else to consider so why not!!??

:)

See you Sunday.

Darrell.

Here is my other unit of cats; the Equites Catafractarii Iuniores from Britannia. This is an old unit that I have recently refurbished to my current painting and basing standard; they scrubbed up well! One thing that had always bugged me about the unit was that their spears were too tall to fit in my storage boxes. I took the spears off, shortened and repainted them.
