Dr Who Mico Universe figures going cheap....
« on: November 08, 2008, 01:03:52 PM »
... at Sainsburys in the UK.
Sorry to all LAFers outside the UK:(

I just had a nice surprise whilst enduring the weekly shop  :D
The three-pack figures and space ship models are half price, that's figures at £2.99 and the ships £4.99. Sadly no large packs of figures, at least not at the Merry Hill store. They had loads of the three-packs plus every ship model.

I managed to get my third [apparently rare?!] Martha plus a couple of Daleks [including Sec], a Judoon, two clockwork men, a Krillitane a Hoix and a Cyberman.  No Master, Sarah Jane or Mickey Smith yet, though  >:(

I also got Captain Jack and his Chula ship, which I will re-paint and use as either an unmanned drone or a Grimm attack ship for 5150. It is just about the right scale to pass for 28mm, though maybe slightly small for human use.

The two extra Marthas will be repainted for use in 5150 etc, as will the Hoix, and the Krillitane will also work as a nasty surprise in Horror/VSF games.

I now have enough Daleks for some modest Dr Who Minis Game scenarios.

I will be volunteering to do another shop next week, as I really need a space pig   lol

PM me if you want 'em.

Sadly, if I had a space pig, I'd be keeping it. And possibly eBaying for a few more to do Muppet Show conversions...  lol

Damn! You've rumbled my game! I was hoping to keep my "Muppets In Space" project a secret until it was ready  >:(

Never mind, the space ship that comes with the space pig is worth having too, so I'm happy to go and buy them for a fiver  ;)

Check out Abingdon Wargames club's Dr Who game we do at a few shows, a very good set of rules.
Plus Overlord's great tower.  :D

I should have thought of them  ::)

Last time I checked their range, they were the same price as everywhere else.

It looks like it's a good time to stock up on Dr Who goodies  :D

What scale are the figures? ???

They are roughly 28mm, although the packaging says 35mm. They are slightly slimmer build than Copplestone etc and slightly taller than Hasslefree. I'm happy to mix them all in together, as the differences aren't excessive, but people who prefer their figures all the same height and build may not like to.

As JB says, the quality is not up to the standard of metal figures, but they do have specific Who characters that would otherwise mean loads of converting. A good painter can improve them considerably and even a quick drybrush and wash gives good results.

The Daleks are terrific

nothing released... can't find any pics on any website and even the Character Options site doesn't list one... seems odd they would do a new ship when they are pretty much dropping the range...

I hadn't realised that! Best get my skates on and buy some more packs before they sell out.

Need more Daleks!
