Defending the village. A Lions Rampant AAR.
« on: 17 September 2015, 11:09:54 AM »
I played a game of Lions Rampant with Dr. Zombie Junior to break in our new game room. I took the role of the defenders whilst junior played the attackers who were intent on burning down this small village.

Overview.

Scouts have reported foreign ships landing on the beach giving the Jarl time to assemble his men to defend the village from plunder. He deploys in a line in the center of the village.

Taking advantage of the village fences.

The attackers move in for the kill.

Defenders take some heavy missile casualties. Driving them back.

The Jarl moves up the center. Where he drives back the attacking berzerkers.

He moves up the side of the church. Where he succesfulle drives away two other attacking units.

After that the game pretty much turned into a rout for the attackers. A flurry of good dice rolls from me and some eaqually bad rolls from Dr. Z junior really made the Jarl look superhumanly heroic.

Great stuff  :-*

A lovely set up and looks like you have a great time laying the game.

A few of the guys at the club have just started playing LR with their Dark Ages mini's at the club. I think the idea is to switch over to the 1500's as soon as they have enough stuff painted up. I'm hoping that they all go for Claymore Castings as it would be perfect for me (I already have a good number of their beautiful mini's).

I think Lion Rampant works very well for dark age. Just rename schiltron to Shieldwall.

The boards are actually the GW realm of battle set. I have gotten rid of all the skulls. It really needs a repaint I think it is to dark.

Exactly what 'we' have done at the club.

I have gotten rid of all the skulls.

That was a good idea  ;) :D

I agree, it needs lifting a little- possibly a couple of tones?

Ah, ok, I thought you had made some kind of goo to cover some home-made boards. I like the texture, as it is not as 'rough' as the painted sand on my boards.
