Having just the other day seen one of those cogs assembled and crewed by 28mm minis I would say it definately is the right size.

Thanks chaps  :)

And that's not a thread hijacking ... It's very much on topic  ;). That cog is indeed the one I intend to convert for use. I'm not sure how yet as it hasn't left its box in a couple of years! IIRC the Perry's used the same boat for a WotR game set in or near a harbour.
My LAF Gallery is HERE
Minis (foot & mounted) finished in 2025 = 74
(2024 = 38; 2023 = 151; 2022 = 204; 2021 = 123; 2020 = ???)

Here we go: Partizan 2012, the Revell Hansa Cog used with Perry minis:

Gorgeous terrain boards!  :-*
I'll be bookmarking this (and the advice thread) for future reference.

I've seen that cog used before with 28mm minis, it works quite fine.

Thanks Modhail  :)

Wow, is it really that big??

My box isn't to hand at the mo so I can't measure it but this store gives the length as 422mm

I didn't pay that much for mine: years ago they were on a half price special at ModelZone and I picked one up 'just in case'.

So I'm thinking about the minis to represent House Clegane. I've looked at other excellent threads on here and, as before, want to be guided by the TV imagery.

I'm thinking that Cleganes swordmen should have:

Bucket type helmets
Distinctive spaulders (ie, simple pauldrons)
Mostly mail armour
Heater shields

Edit: maybe with kettle type helmets for the junior ranks?

The Fireforge Tuetonic Infantry set looks to be the most sensible starting point, as it will make 12 (Though I need 14).

Thoughts would be appreciated. :)

I find it tricky to visualise the Cleganes as a house, since they're such singular characters in the books.
There's The Mountain and The Hound. Ser Gregor and Sandor. They're very much individual anti-heroes.
When you do get to see The Mountain with his band of men, they are mercenary scum and raiders of the Brave Companions / Bloody Mummers variety. Not Clegane retainers.
The Hound meanwhile, is by definition a loner.
To the extent that I don't get a sense of the Cleganes as a house at all :?

Maybe pick a different house? :D

House Clegane is a very minor house that is subordinate to the Lanisters. I don't think they have any men of their own.

The Mountains men are "just" brigands. And the hound does not command any men.

Of course they have men of their own. The Mountain raids and pillages in the same places as the Bloody Mummers, but not with them. Characters like the Tickler are House Clegane men. They're just as vicious as their master. I think they'd look a bit rag tag and mercenary though, can't see the Mountain really caring about his men looking proper.

Thanks folks for most useful comments!

In the TV context, the Cleganes are proving extremely difficult to nail down. There are a lot of clues that they have retainers (a castle seat, a banner, jousting tournaments, raiding the river lands, torturing people at Harrenhal, etc) but there is a conspicuous absence of a retinue!!! As you say, the guys doing the torturing at Harrenhal look like scum without much in the way of uniform. And to make it more confusing in that scene, The Mountain looks like his wearing a Lanister helm with the same red cloak as Tywin. All very confusing.

I think I might have to hold off on the Cleganes (maybe, but probably not!, it will become clearer in the next series), which is a shame as I wanted a small band of particularly nasty hard cases to do Lanister dirty work (what with the Boltons swinging both ways).

I can't tell you how many video clips, images and forum posts I've looked at to try and solve this conundrum.  Ho hum. I'm a bit brain dead at the mo and can't think who they might be substituted with. :)

Edit: Ogrog: I was writing as you posted and I think you are right about The Mountain not caring about his men's appearance. That said, i can't seem to find any images of them kitted out for fighting - just passing time with torture, etc.
