Aliens & Marines 1/32

Based on the popularity of the recent 1/32 Star Wars figures; I thought some might be interested in these colonial marines & aliens.  Officially licensed and all.

They've been brought up here before...and they look absolutely terrible.  Now, if you needed some easy corpses or...set dressings, perhaps.  But they look really, really bad from that photo.

I always have a soft spot for this type of toy.   I think my love for all things miniature probably sprouted from a similar bag of little green army men.

I get that point I really do, but it really makes me question the Prodos version of the Kickstarter history.  That is that Fox and their very high standards were holding things up.  I'm just skeptical that Fox as a large and multi-layered organization was sophisticated enough to say that the Diamond figures were essentially army men and could be produced at a lower standard than the torture and suffering that Prodos claimed for their approval process as gaming figures.

Probably not worth pondering too hard but seeing those figures the first time really raised my eyebrows.

And, yet, I just got a note that a friend bought 'enough for us all...'

Mixed with terrible army men, they'll fit right in. Should be fun. These are smaller than the playsets that were out several years ago, right? I've a bit of that.

Now, if I could only get my Kens, Barbies, 12in GiJoes and Aliens dressed up for a game...

Okay, snot-colored resin slopped over the Barbies against a wall, and they'd be ready to go.

Man I would have killed for 1/32 sci fi figures when I was 5-12. Would have been mind blowing back then.

Sure, the detail isn't there, but for a quick and dirty game when you're stuck going camping in the summer or hanging out with younger kids, if there were some cheap and easy rules, $9 is cheap to keep yourself entertained.

I have a ridiculous collection of 1/32 toy soldiers in every genre.  My boys and I love impromptu games with them.  No painting is sometimes a relief.
