As lighting can affect the lightness/saturation/color I thought I should add my two cents worth:  I have an original WW1 greyback flannel shirt which I've simply laid on the scanner.  Hopefully this gives the true-est reference of color:

Thanks John an all who have provided some lovely feedback to Plynkes's question.

I'll try with my newer figures  to get closer to the mark with my painting colour. Naturally, dirt combined with body oils makes your uniform colour look different :D
Best wishes,
Helen

Sorry to pull out this relatively older thread, but would anyone of you have a painting guide for greybacks he or she would like to share? I am considering of starting mine at some point and that would be great help.
