The Weird Wars Painting Club - 2016-04-09 DONE!
« on: November 01, 2015, 09:33:00 AM »
Welcome to the Weird Wars Painting Club!

As with previous painting clubs, this is a "fun" rather than "win" contest intended to get people to paint some nice items for it, and maybe rekindle some Weird Wars interest.

Edit: Due to the post length limit, I was forced to remove the main body of the rules and transfer them to a TXT you'll find attached below. If you have not previously participated in a painting club, please read the rules first before submitting an entry.

Participants who submitted an item are entitled to add the Weird Wars Painting Club Badge to their signature.

Please use this code:

Code: [Select]
[img]http://leadadventureforum.com/gallery/23/140_01_11_15_9_46_48.png[/img]
This embeds a 50px version of the badge into your signature.

This thread should be primarily used for the posting of images, but obviously some on-topic discussion is fine. Nonetheless, I reserve the right to split off or remove any discussion that veers off too much and clogs up the thread.

Q & A Section

Would converting a Ma.K be suitable painted with fitting insignia?

This is one of the grey areas. To make it clear, "proper SF3D" is scifi with a retro styling and thus not within scope, but painting them up as Weird War 2 German or Allied hardware is fine.

Would I be correct in assuming that World War 1 Halflings, Goblins and Dwarves (an established theme for which several manufacturers make miniatures) are more of an "Other Adventures" thing and therefore would not qualify for this contest?

It's more of a "Fantasy Great War", i.e. a Fantasy setting styled to resemble WW1, so it's another area where there's some overlap. I wouldn't class Flintloque as "Weird Napoleonic", either, but as "Black Powder Fantasy", so I'm afraid Fantasy variants are out of bounds for this one. Sorry for that.

Okay, then I'm going to start off with the first entry. A nice opportunity to continue with my "Projekt X" project which grinded to a halt many years ago.

Hrm... I missed all the other painting contests during my "LAF gap years" and would love to participate in at least one... I don't actually do Weird Wars so I hope I wouldn't elbow aside anyone doing their own Weird War project by entering a one-off or two. A hundred entries is a lot, after all.

Now to see if there's anything at all in the lead pile that could suit this purpose. I'm kicking myself for not buying some of those 15mm Gear Krieg mechs when DP9 was temporarily selling them again for the month of October.

Would I be correct in assuming that World War 1 Halflings, Goblins and Dwarves (an established theme for which several manufacturers make miniatures) are more of an "Other Adventures" thing and therefore would not qualify for this contest?

Sorry for that.

That's alright, I was assuming for that to be the case anyway and just wanted to make sure.

It would be a nice theme for another contest, though, and I'll keep it in mind for the future.
