Judging by what  I can see of the miniatures rowing the boat it looks like the Gripping Beast model Patrice.

This was a very believable scenario, typical for the period and beyond, in fact.

Thank you - that is a very lovely vessel - I am currently looking at options for a Viking longship.

Lovely looking game!

Um, yes I know, the name "drakkar" is not correct (invention of 19th C. French scholars for a Viking longship) but it's so practical…

I didn't know this, so thanks!

lol lol lol I've just read the thread you refered to and we played a similar game to yours a week ago.
Your table looks great as does the ship. Very pleased the thread was resurrected.

Cheers

Thanks again. :)

I didn't know this, so thanks!

"Longship" sounds good in English but does not practically translate into French ("long bateau" sounds clumsy) so we say "drakkar" which is well recognised by French dictionaries although not really correct. Same for "menhir" a word invented in the late 18th century by French scholars trying to use Breton words to mean "stone - long", long stone, altough the preferred name in Breton is "peulven" or "peulvan", pillar (of) stone. The word "dolmen" is also questionable, etc.

Very pleased the thread was resurrected.

:D There are links to other old threads on the Argad ruleset webpage, some of which could give ideas to play with other rules if wished, scroll down to the bottom of the page to see them:
http://www.argad-bzh.fr/argad/en.html
...but please don't resurrect them all or I'll soon get in trouble with the LAF admins.  :D lol lol
