Frostgrave by Quindia Studios
« on: 15 December 2015, 03:13:45 PM »
Finally got around to starting a Frostgrave warband... Marko Copperstone and his apprentice Aleeya...

Not sure about the composition of the warbandyet. I have the Barbarian and Thief up next. I will probably just paint the models that appeal to me and fill in the rest with thugs and wardogs.

A wonderful start. I like your basing. Simple and elegant.

Agreed with Daniel. A dab or two of snow would be really fitting, too.

Not necessarily, considering that the future release of Into the Breeding Pits will take us underground.

Yeah, I quite like the "setting neutral", "system agnostic" basing. I have done the same to my Mordheim models, though my bases were all brown. I was thinking of going all grey for Frostgrave, but this is actually a nice in between thing. Does mean I need to glue on some bigger stones, but small price to pay. It looks really nice!

Lovely painted minis. A nice way to have your warband evolve starting with the minis you like. Thanks for sharing

Madcap Toddlekin and his apprentice, Kip...

"No, I am NOT a dwarf!" shouted Madcap, hopping up and down, "Why does everyone keep asking me that?" he demanded over his shoulder to his apprentice, Kip, who still stood in the doorway of the tavern. She shrugged, bemused by her master's antics. She'd witnessed the same scene play out a dozen times.

The mercenaries looked uncomfortable.

"Beggin' yer pardon, lord," replied the leader of the sellswords, "Jenkins is a bit slow - taken one too many blows to his helmet." He elbowed the man next to him as he began to protest. "If yer offer still stands, my men and I can git you to Midnight Square. We can be ready to leave at first light."

"You can gather your gear and get ready to leave within the hour if you want your gold," huffed Madcap.

"But, lord, it will be dark by the time we reach Midnight Square and rumors say no one who ventures there under the moon has never been seen again." replied the captain.

"That is why I need soldiers," said the wizard as he turned to leave. "One hour, captain..."

We are staring a campaign in a month or so, and these are my main characters. The rest of the warband will be a barbarian, a thief, two crossbowmen, and four thugs. I'll post the soldiers as I finish them.

It's part of the reason that I use clear disks....

I can't quite come at the clear disks, I'd much rather the neutral basing as shown above.

Absolutely lovely work overall mate. I particularly like your apprentice, I've got the same mini on my workbench awaiting attention.

I use Dwarven Forge tiles for my fantasy stuff and after spending all of that money I want to show it off to it's best advantage.  From a top down perspective, the combination works fantastic IMHO :D
