In the same manner that Frostgrave took Mordheim and evolved from it into a slimmer, better, stronger ruleset could Ospreys
soon to be released ruleset do the same thing for Necromunda ?

Interesting idea......

My understanding, given that this is an Andrea Sfilgoi game, based on his SOB&H engine, is that this is not Osprey's Necromunda to Frostgrave's Mordheim.

It's a much looser, more narrative-led game without fixed rules for inter-game experience, trading etc.

I've not actually ready the rules, yet.  But that's what I got from discussing it with the Editor last week.

Intriguing, i'll admit since all we've got is the image I made a quick jump to 'Ospreys Necromunda' which imo wouldn't be a bad thing since Frostgrave is a juggernaut for them atm. Also there's the 6mm game they are working which'll no doubt get compared to Epic.

Still narrative is always good.

Really???
That differs hugely from my experiences of Frostgrave.  So I really hope Rogue Stars is nothing like Frostgrave

  • I disapprove!
I was thinking (out loud) the same thing as the OP when I first heard of Rogue Stars here on LAF. I'm not so sure anymore, and now I expect that it's probably going to be no more like Necromunda than like AE Bounty or Rezolution, but that's still a good thing and I'm really looking forward to it. If the game mechanics suit me, I may well use it for gaming multiple separate settings (urban gang wars and Captain Harlock-style space pirate adventures foremost among them).

I was rather hoping that Rogue Stars would be an answer to my search for a Shadowrun type Miniatures game.

Resurrect old Necromunda figs? Sure.
My group enjoys the SoBH engine, so if it follows that route I see it getting quite a bit of play here. I don't mind if it lacks specific inter-game campaign details. There's nothing to stop me from working up my own or using it in a Necromunda-like setting. Or Shadowrun. Or Cyberpunk 2020. Or...

I'm in this camp too. I own Frostgrave but haven't played it. From reading it through, the system looks terrible.

Based on that, I can't understand why Osprey should be de facto successors to the Necromunda throne. Besides, there are plenty of good sci fi skirmish games out there already (just as there are good fantasy skirmish games).

Fortunately, it sound like Rogue Stars will be completely different. The fact Andrea Sfiligoi is writing it gets my interest...I like his work.

Interesting. Haven't tried Frostgrave, but it seems to be getting a fair play, and purchase, here. Have to admit, though, could be just as much about how badly people felt burned by Age of Sigmar.

I'll be interested in any new sci-fi miniatures for the game from Northstar! If it's Steve Saleh and Copplestone etc. like Frostgrave, they will be excellent.

What Earther said. Always up for more cool SF/C-punk figs.
