A very inspiring thread. Thanks for sharing.
i have just got back into painting 15mm after telling myself (and selling of nearly everything) that I couldn't paint that small any more.  I have found that a change of painting techniques, an optical loupe (and an adjustment in expectations) means I am managing to get an orc horde ready for Dragon Rampant.

The larger two [Demons] are Reaper bones minis, which were awful to paint, so despite their rather rough appearance I'm happy enough with them considering.

They look great. No worries!

That's luverly stuff! Great paintjobs and, to my shame, I didn't realise the quality of some 15mm sculpts before this. Which ones are Demonworld, and where are the others from?

The spider is an excellent sculpt and gives me the creeps just looking at it.

I used to keep tarantulas. That looks like a pretty good recreation of a threat display. lol

They're pretty much all Demonworld, those that aren't are the dwarf/gnome and the two men-at-arms on the lefthand side in the town guard (the last pic in the first post). Then the not-Gandalf and the man-at-arms behind him together with the elves. Not sure where they are from as I got them secondhand. If I'm correct then I think it's Werner Klocke that sculpted most of the Demonworld range. They creep towards the larger end of the 15mm range, but are doubtless amongst some of the best 15mm sculpts available.

Ah great minds. I used that same Reaper ghost and a horde of nurglings with my 15mm fantasy and scifi. A few other scale mix options on my blog if your interested.

You are making me want to drop the 28 stuff I'm doing and get back to 15s...

Personal blog at http://www.warchest.co.uk/
Mostly about miniature painting and collecting, mostly 15mm non-historical, but then anything goes!

I've only just stumbled upon your blog a week ago (via the 15mm fantasy gaming facebook site), you've got so great stuff there. 28mm minis can make very good large creatures in 15mm.

Take care of your feet, 28mm are much heavy than 15mm. ;)

I agree, you could found lot of things in 15mm scale. Splintered light miniatures, Khurasan and Ral partha Europe (Demonworld) have got some great things in their ranges, and I don't tell about copplestone casting ;)

28mm provide some huge monsters for less money. Even some 28mm scenery stuff could be use with 15mm mini for greater monuments.

do you recognise somethings here ?

I have a bit of a dwarf-crush as it is, but your paint job on those Demonworld fellas is just like, well, naughty!

Good photo too. I still struggle to get nice clean, sharp shots like that. (Oh, that might actually be the paint job at fault...)

Absolutely agree with your views on Demonworld minis.  I've been a big fan of them for ages.  They paint up beautifully and give me fantastic results.  I've got several HOTT armies using them.  They are even easier to put forces like yours together now that they are sold by RPE and not boxed up in big unit packs but available in smaller pack sizes or even in mixed warbands through their BlightHaven range (which incidentally includes some must have fantasy scenic pieces.)

I see RPE are now doing something called Demonwold Universal - which claims to use smaller units and no longer be hex based.  Anyone tried them?

Paddy

P.S. If you want to replace your non-Demonworld Gandalf for a Demonworld mini - try Gandagor the Grey.  IMHO possibly the best 15mm human wizard model available:  http://www.ralparthaeurope.co.uk/shop/demonworld-15mm-c-76/demonworld-classic-c-76_151/characters-c-76_151_111/4651-gandagor-the-grey-p-2792.html
