Erik and I has had another gaming session of Chariots Rampant. We played the Hold on tight and Hammer and Anvil scenarios from the Lions Rampant rulebook.
After having once again seduced the lovely Helen. The Trojans are making their way to their ships. The Greeks are en route to try and block their escape at a vital bridge.
The Trojans race en masse towards the bridge, with a flanking force already across the river.

The Greeks flounder in a graveyard.

Heavily armoured trojan spearmen are first to reach the bridge with Prince Paris bravely leading them from the back..

The Greeks finally arrive at the bridge but are hit hard by the flanking Trojan chariots.

The fierce Myrmidons are forced back by the chariots charge.

More Greek spearmen advance towards the bridge to try and drive the Trojans from it. And the Greeks have their own flanking chariot driving round to make some damage.

As the Trojan chariots hold the Greek spearmen at bay Trojan spearmen fords the river in safety.

Having been reinforced the Trojan chariots makes short work of the Greek spearmen.

The Trojans now have a very strong position on the bridge.

But all is not lost for the Greeks yet! Greek Spearmen catch the Trojan heavy infantry while they are crossing the river and sends the packing back across the river.

And the flanking Greek chariot runs of a group of Trojan skirmishers.

But it is not enough the Trojan have a firm control over the bridge and the surviving Greek troops retreat leaving the field to the Trojans.

Second GameNow that the Trojans are safely across the bridge there is just a quick march to the Trojan ships and a sea voyage back to the safety of Troy. But the cunning Achilleus has prepared for such a thing and laid a trap for the Trojans.
Acilleus has deployed his finest Myrmidons to stop the march of the Trojans.

While Achilleus himself attacks the Trojans from the rear.

Achilleus still in rage over the death of Patroklos by the hands of Hektor. Challenges Hektor to single combat.

Where he beats him down.

The Myrmidons however looses the fight with the Trojan chariots. And during all of this fighting Prince Paris is slowly but surely making his getaway with the lovely Helen.

It turns into a race for the shore. With the Greek chariots chasing the Trojan infantry.

The Trojan chariots smash through any opposition the Greeks put up to try and stop Prince Paris from escaping.

In the end Prince Paris and Helen escapes to the boats and the safety of Troy..

Somewhere during game two Erik discovered that he had in fact been rolling 14 dice instead of the 12 he was supposed to. But if I absolutely have to be fair I don't think it made much difference. What lost me the games was not the combats but my brilliant ability to always fail my command rolls. And the fact that my freshly painted Myrmidons suffered very heavily from the curse of being newly painted.
