1/63e Regiment de Ligne - Talavera
« on: 26 January 2016, 06:24:35 PM »
The heritage of the 63eme Regiment de Ligne extended back to 1672 with the formation of the Swiss Regiment d'Ernest by Colonel Jean Jaques Baron d'Erlach.

The regiment would go through several reincarnations up to the Revolutionary and Napoleonic eras and would be a veteran regiment when it entered Spain in 1808 under Colonel Mouton-Duvernet, with Golymin 1806, Eylau and Friedland 1807 on its list of battle honours.
