"Iron Will" and "Impervious"
« on: 05 February 2016, 10:30:12 AM »
What is the difference in game terms of these talents?

My reading would be that "Impervious" also nullifies confusion effects like "Zone of Shadows"

Anyone seen an explanation of these anywhere?

The way we play it is that someone with Impervious cannot use any Mystical Powers nor can any Mystical Powers directly affect them whether it be their mind or for real...the exception being a Mystical Power like Zone of Shadows which we see as an area effect fog or cloud that is real and emanates from the person with the Mystical Power. So Dragon Breath, Dragon Wings, Feet of Lead, Harden, Mask of Imhotep, Mesmerism, Strengthen, True Grit, Water Bullets do not work against (or for) a person with Impervious.

With Iron Will only those Mystical Powers that affect the mind do not work (Dragon Breath, Mask of Imhotep, Mesmerism, Water Bullets) and those persons with Iron Will can have Mystical Powers themselves.

But if Zone of Shadows creates an actual "fog" then those within it  and anyone firing through the zone at a target on the other side of the radius would be affected which they are not. The Zone only affects when targeting people within the zone.

My interpretation is that the shadows are a "shimmering" or blurring of the 6" zone that is visible to anyone looking into it. Thus someone Impervious to Mystic effects would not see the shimmer but someone with Iron Will would as the effect is not targeted at him.

Whatever works for you, sir!  I just gave you our interpretation. :D

And it is much appreciated.

I accept that the rules are designed to be "adapted" but am interested to see if there was any previous consensus on the rules around what is and isn't protection from mystic powers.

Or maybe a discussion about the "Zone of Shadows"?
