Of Gods and Mortals Greeks (updated 27 April '16)
« on: 05 February 2016, 02:18:10 PM »
Hi all

New to the the forum, so I thought I'd share the OGAM force I'm working on at the moment.

I decided to go with the Greek army list in the rulebook as there was a good choice of models available, and I could swap my God around to give a bit of variety.

I've got through the project pretty quickly so far, with my mortals and my Goddess done.

Mortals:

Greek Hoplites from Warlord:

Greek Archers and Wild Dogs, also from Warlord:

And for my Goddess, I'm using Aphrodite.  Mainly because I saw a model I loved and it was a good excuse to use it:

She is big (54mm scale), maybe too much, but then again she is a Goddess so I figured she'd be imposing.  She's called Daramis the Healing Light from Andrea miniatures.

Just my legends to go now.  That's going to be a minotaur, Herakles and Perseus.  I'm using Reaper miniatures for all three of them.

Hope you like them, I will share some photos when the rest of the models are done.

Pretty cool
"Peace" is that brief, glorious moment in history when everybody stands around reloading.

Another legend done:

This was a Reaper Bones Minotaur.  Clean up was a bit of a pain, he had a lot of mold lines, but he painted up fine.  Pretty good considering it only cost me £2.50.

Snap!
Used exactly that model for my OGAM Greeks too. It's a great Minotaur and that's a great paint-job.

Nice :)  I spent ages looking for a Minotaur that didn't look too fantasy, and more mythological, and this was the closest I could find.

I've got Perseus and Herakles (both Reaper models) to complete my 1000 point force.  I also manage to pick up a great model at a show recently to use either as Poseidon or Triton as a legend.  It's called Demi-Triton by Foundry, not sure it's in production anymore as I can't see it on their website.  It's a big Merman type of guy with a trident.

Interestingly I thought that one was bit more fantasy than mythological, but it's just a great model and looks really powerful, so I went with that. :)
I've got the Poseidon and Hermes from SHQ (ex-Chiltern) as gods.
Not seen the demi-triton, has it moved over to the Foundry Casting Room range? http://www.castingroomminiatures.com/collections/greek-mythology?page=1

I don't think it has (unless I've missed it).  This is guy anyway:

Very nice! I must move with my norsemen. I already have the Mortals put together and I have a model of Heimdall but still need some legends to put in. And a tremendous amount of paint.

And another legend all done, this time it's Perseus by Reaper Miniatures:

Just one legend left now to complete the army:  Herakles.

The blood drops are actually sculpted on, so easy to do :)

I'm going to finish the final model and then get a photo of the whole warband together.
