Thanks guys .....
I just had a look at your blog mate. Your Kubelwagen, you show the stages during painting, but then is suddenly goes from 'here I drybrushed the camo colours n the side' to 'and here's the finished product' (I'm paraphrasing here!
) How do you achieve that wonderful weathered, chipped look? (If you don't mind me asking?)
Hey Andy,
Pretty much the missing pics/steps are those I touched on back further in the thread, around page 3 I think. After the camo the vehicles get lined using a fine brush and pin washes. I post-shade as shown on the Panther, that's a pretty old and crude pic but I use the same basic process on everything, not just white vehicles.
Chips are added using a blue/grey and again with a fine brush. I don't personally use a sponge as I feel that gives a more buffed-off worn look to the paint rather than grime or spot damage. Others use sponges though with great effect (see fabulous Pier's (Vs) Opel Blitz for example). After the chipping/wear I sometimes drybrush them with oily steel and shade again with very thinned chestnut ink .......
Hope this helps. Flicking back through my blog should show quite a few "in-progress" pics of my painting process.
cheers
Brent
