I've got my fingers crossed for that situation too, but I doubt it'll pan out that way.  As you say the marines all appear to be named characters so players won't need more than one

Some people will want just one or two for their SM armies, I've no doubt. But good ol' GW never wanted you to be satisfied with the minimum number of models. Look at the WD Formation rules posted up on Dakka.

And if the rumours are true, that SMs outsell every other GW faction or game put together, I still think the single sales could go quick.

Well, all the Deathwatch shoulder pad arms come separately, so I can make a nice little squad of standard DW marine troopers in desert camo with these.

Yeah, I agree as well. I just have the slight feeling that Cultists are completely pointless as they are going to be sucked back into the hive again at some point. A cult just owning its own world would be awesome. Still they are one of the more fun pieces of fluff in the 40K universe.
