Painting started
My youngest and I are home alone (wife coming home late). He just want to hang out near me and watch teletubbies - and I better shut up. So making a small update.

Last picture before finishing it. Looking forward to adding snow. It'll do wonders breaking up the grey areas.

Will also add lichen green run off belpw windows and some red rust weathering powder.

Yellow light in the lampposts and a weathered banner atop the pole.

I hope I'll be enough.

Otherwise I might add some Ivy on som wall areas. Ordered some cheap chinese terraium miniature ivy.

I'm very happy with the Verdigris colour on the roof.

Awesome bits
A guy on Powerfist.dk was selling a bunch of stuff. Without knowing what was in the pile, I bought 6 kg of terrain bits. Got it for 40 eur incl shipping. Very nice deal. Spend some time sorting out the stuff.

The guy is a 40k player. The grey pile is all stuff useable for dungeons and frostgrave. It's from some 40k building, but these elements will all fit well into a gothic town. Will use it to upgrave mdf buildings and to get cool windows into simba falcon castle walls.

The box is fulll with sci-fi elements. I'll use it to spike up all the Battlezone stuff I have coming from Deadzone Kickstarter.

And the yellow bits in the lower corner is mordern stuff. Dumpsters, tables, cash registers, kitchen sink, mail box. Will use that for scatter terrain in The Walking Dead game.

Looking good.

How did you do your Verdigris?
I have some chess pieces I'm making into statues and wanted some 'bronzes' but my efforts are less than satisfactory.

Thanks.

I took the easy way. Bought a paint from Vallejo named Verdigris. :-) I sprayed the roof blue first, in lack of bronze. But painting bronze and drybrushing with vallejo verdigris would look even better.

Looking great. Nice deal on the bit box too. Those Cities of Death pieces come in really handy for scratch building.

They really do. Gonna help me speed up future terrain building.

The Silent Tower, Statues, Undead Encounters
The Silent Tower
Finishing this was my reward for getting done with most of the stuff for my Space Immigration project.

I'm very pleased with the result I've gotten on this tower. First 1'x1' done! This will be the most time consuming of them all, as allmost everythign was scratch build. For the next tiles I have some time saving bits on hand - I think...

Info, tips, how I did it all under the photos.

The pinetree and the lamppost are from China and cost nothing at all. The tree came with snow - nice.

The Silent Tower is a Frostgrave scenario.

The archer is keeping watch on a walkway to the second level of the tower. The walkway is made from Simba Falcon toy castle, foam added on the inside.

The rust is done with Vallejo Pigment. Tried mixing the pigmint binder and pigment in a pot this time, then slapping it on.

The Wizard consulting with his Captain, if their new home is good enough.

The Verdigris cobber roof was primed light blue and painted with Vallejos Verdigris effect paint.

This Marksman is about to meet his doom.

"The backside" of the tower. The Ivy is from The Army Painter.

Side Tower walls are made from Simba Falcon Toy Castle. The inside is insulation foam. The stones around the entrance is cork. The stairway is white polystyrene steps, and insulation foam sides.

The banner is from Perry Miniatures. The put a sheet of banners and flags in their boxes - very nice! Kindly donated by Fuggit Khan.

Thanks to Admiral for suggestion picking out a few stones in different colours. Really did a lot to both miniature bases and this terrain piece.

Miniatures

These dudes are from Dungeon Saga. The Army Painter quickshade used directly on bone plastic. It was a test, worked fairly well. But would give it a bit of bone paint the next time.

Heroquest skeletons and mummies. No mummies in Frostgrave yet, but they'll count as some other powerful undead. Added tilework from plasticcard to the flat Heroquest bases.

Heroquest chaos warriors "Krigere fra Mørkets Magter" - much prefer the danish name. Translates to "Warriors of the Dark Powers". Statues for the Living Museum scenario, as general terrain or as animated cosntructs. The ivy is from The Army Painter.

Now to finishing a bit more space stuff. 5 space stations and some gas clouds.

Been finishing some miniatures for Frostgrave, Dungeon Saga and Heroquest. These have been painted in my lunch breaks at work. I've decided to paint in all my breaks the entire year. Some days it's 5 minutes and other it's 30 minutes. Will hopefully get me down in the pile of miniatures. Weathering, varnishing done at home.

Did all these zombies and the worm in one batch.

Zombie Trolls! Zombie Troll Shaman
This is Dungeon Saga miniatures. There's also Zombie Trolls in the Frostgrave campaign Thaw of the Liche Lord. I've changed the arm stance of one troll with hot water.

I'm a very big fan of the Dungeon Saga bases!

Zombies!
Some Dungeon Saga zombies and old heroquest zombies. Added tile work to the heroquest bases with plastic card. Looks really well next to the others when painted.

Also changed the stances on these guys with hot water.

I went with bright different colours for the clothes, because my living warband has the same. So I think it'll look nice when they fight.

Giant worm
This is a super cheap Reaper Bones miniature. But it such a gross monster. Paintet him in rotten flesh and with a lot of nurgles rot. Thinking this guy lives under the earth, he wont get that much sunlight. The thug is in for a very bad day!

I've nearly finished up painting everything for a complete Frostgrave Bestiary. I don't really play that many games of anything, but it does feel good to get some stuff painted. Will also work well with many dungeon crawlers etc.

Wolves and giant rat kindly donated by Herby. The frost toad is a toy, I've painted up. Have a couple more I need to do. Wolverine (count as war dog), bear and snow leopard as Reaper Bones. The Gorilla is a toy.

Mortibis the Necromancer - villain in Dungeon Saga. And a Banshee.

Werewolf, tooth chest and snowtroll are Reaper Bones. The armored skeleton is an old Rackham miniature, got from a trade her on CDO.

A senator Palpatine from Starwars RISK have become a cultist. An old Rackham miniature is a Cultist Templar. The imp is made of a gnoblar with ungor head. The barbarian is from HeroQuest. His loin cloth is painted as the box art.

Wheel of Bones

Last night I played the first two quests in Mantics Dungeon Saga using the AI rules from the expansion Adventures Companion. They are decent rules, I had a fun time playing against the game.

A big part of Dungeon Saga is "Pile of Bones". Markers that the evil necromancer overlord can raise as skeleton fighters. And when you beat a skeleton in combat, there's a change it just becomes a pile of bones - ready to be raised again. In my first game yesterday this happened again ang again. Took ages to grind the bones to bone meal.

So this being such a big part of the game and me having painted most of the miniatures - I decided to do some 3d counters.

Old GW skeletons, a complete skeleton on each base. 25mm bases, plastic card stone work. My favourite is the guy in the corner, took an arrow tight in the eye and sought of just sat down to die.

This will also work as terrain for a scenario in Frostgrave. Wheel of Bones. Where cultist have made a circle of bones for some sacrifice. These will be perfect for making the center of that scenario.

A few WIPs
A few WIPs that is only missing quick shade varnish. Then I have a handfull of miniatures left to do. 7 Dungeon Saga models and my kit is complete. And I have a few primed animals ready for Frostgrave as well. Will work to get that finished and then I'll paint up my remaining Devils Run miniatures. Been doing a lot of fantasy lately.

Ghosts, some apprentice, dwarf infantryman, ghost

Wheel of Bones

Apothecary and Templar

Lighting is completely off in these pictures. It's night time and I only had a desk lamp. But wanted to update the blog.

Now back to do an hours more painting an then to bed!

Thank you kindly sir.

Dippind day
Today was dipping day. Had a lot of miniatures that I've been getting ready for dip - and I've had suh a hard time getting them done. So it's nice it's over an that I can concentrate on painting up something else.

Some Frostgrave scatter and Dungen Saga barrels
This is for some light cover in Frostgrave and the scenario "loot the cart". 4 of these are made with the Dungeon Saga barrels. Beefed them up a bit to look better. They still fit neatly inside a 1'' square (like the DS board grid).

These are made with Renadra platic barrelse large and small, cheap wooden barrels from AliExpress (china ebay) and some resin bits cast by a friend.
I had a dublicate model he needed. I got an even bigger model and some resin bits and bobs in return. Nice trade.

I'll have to make a Market Tile (1'x1') for Frostgrave, with lots of Admirals cool clutter pieces on it.

Love your keep/tower. Very well done, rich of details and spots for models to walk to in search of riches.

Thank you. I plan on making 9 1'x' boards and have them cover as many scenarios as possible. Good think I'm not long in the process as I can now take Into the Breeding Pits and Forgotten Pacts into consideration in design.

Dungeon Saga
And this was the last miniatures for Dungeon Saga. Besides from a few pieces of furniture it's now completely coloured. That's a nice achievement, feels good.

It's also part of the criteria I set up before buying any expansions:
- Completely Painted
- Must have played all the missions in the one I have.

So after some gaming I can reward myself the Return of Valandor.

The Heroes of Dolgorath.
No conversion work, but I added a bow string to the elfs weapon. I always do that. These will double up in frostgrave a Ranger, Infantryman, Barbarian and Apprentice.

Armoured Zombies, Dwarf Revenants and the Boss undead Dwarf King Grond. Changed on Dwarf pose with hot water.

Ghosts

And my finished "Pile of Bones", that will also be terrain in Frostgrave. I've never given miniatures as heavy a varnish as these, I figure they'll get banged up pretty good.

Frostgrave
Also finished a lot of pure Frostgrave miniatures.

A Rackham Miniatures Templar (gotten from a chaos dwarf trade). The rest is Reaper Bones. A packmule, a bard (she had a flat guitar, so I made it a lute with greenstudd) and an apothecary. There's also a badger (warhound or familiar) and a Blood Raven.

And some very old Games Workshop miniatures. I don't know if these are undead or Chaos - but I think they are very old Chaos Miniatures. They are perfect for a set of Cultist Necromancer and his apprentice.
