Pulp Posters
« on: January 21, 2007, 01:01:48 PM »
Hi all,

I've been doing some research for a pulp commission later in the year and needed to compile a list of posters for decorating walls, shops etc.

Thought I'd make the collection available to all:

There's a couple of hundred in all, some broken down by date range pre 1900s to post WWII to 1960, but the majority in an unclassified category which also includes some belle-epoque and retro wall posters which might be useful.

There is also a "Shanghai 1930s" category which may be of specific use to some - these are all authentic posters from the 1930s shanghai.

The main category is 7mb so it will take a while to download - the index page is here: http://barrule.com/Pulp/posters/index.html

To use just copy to your HDD, size appropriately and print out - "antique" with weak tea, pigment, thin ink wash etc or even just leave in bright sunlight for a few days.

Hope they're useful, I will be adding more over time, especially the WWI and WWII stuff.

I agree. That special chinese style of depicting people always creeps me out. But that´s an awesome resource page, Sir. Thanks a lot.

Lot of interesting stuff, thanks!

Some of the "posters" surely are enamel signs, any tips for building these?
"I'd like to send this letter to the Prussian consulate in Siam by aeromail. Am I too late for the 4:30 autogyro?"
"Uh, I better look in the manual... This book must be out of date. I don't see "Prussia", "Siam" or "autogyro"...
