Dux Britanniarum game
« on: 16 March 2016, 12:17:52 AM »
Thought i'd post some pictures from a recent game of Dux Britanniarum. The scenario was a Saxon village raid.
The pictures are taken at a distance to give you an overall view of troop positions. The Saxon force had fantastic dice rolls throughout the game and were in and out like rabbits. The Britons dice rolling was pathetic. Apart from that, it was a fantastic fun game.

The Saxon get a great head start with three full moves, whereas the Britons only manage to get two groups of farm boys on table.

Saxons already in the village.

The British force finally arrives but the levy troops are already suffering and falling back

The Saxon raiders are heading home with the takings

Britons finally make contact

The raiders have already got their first group to the edge of the woods. The rest of them try to hold off the Britons

British troops unable to catch the speedy Saxon thieves

A few close up shots of the forces.
Saxon

British

Hope you like them ;)

Lovely work on the painting front and a fab looking game too  :-* :-* :-*

On a historical note, most of the shields would have been covered in rawhide (shrunk to fit :) ) as one blow with an arrow, spear, sword or axe is enough to shatter a shield that is not protected thus.

Still, brill stuff :)

Great looking game. Lovely to see a sodding great grassy hill. That says England to me  :)

I haven't tried Dux Brit. But I am building forces for the period... How would you sum it up?

Many Thanks ;)

Dux Brit is a terrific game. It's fast and fun, and you get to roll bucket loads of dice which gives you a sense of really smacking the enemy....... even if the scores are pants ::) I highly recommend them, and they would work in perfect harmony with your beautiful figures ;)
