Thank you. It is not really an effect I consciously seek.  Having moved about among seasoned reenactors a bit, and seeing the natural dye fabric the cloth salesmen flog, I chose a colour scale which is not exactly subdued, but not bright either. I tend to mix my highlights with tans and greys. Other  than that I  think the grittiness is due to increasingly poor eye sight. I have a hell of a time painting eyes lids, lips and nose these days...

Funnily enough was thinking exactly that earlier today. He is actually one of a handful of characters where I’d consider using the official figures (Darksword rather than the CMON range).

It’s not just the size, but finding a dynamic pose that looks right.

Yes, it is. And I have considered the Dark Sword variant to. I am not 100% sure about the barrel helmet (too small) but since it comes with a bare head option, it could work.

But after seeing what this chap "thistledoo minis" has posted at CMON...



...am considering getting a plastic Brettonian knight of the realm. I would need to cut him up good, and do some serious conversion, but that's the fun bit, eh?

It is  a bit difficult to see but I have  perched a black hooded head with  a noose round its neck on the banner pole. Not my best sculpting work.




The battle banner of house Trant, embroidered by the Westros most prominent impressionist artist, Vinsent of Goog. The scroll spells the words of House Trant: "So end our foes". You would never know if I didn't tell you.



I try to come up with variants on a theme when I paint heraldry. It seems likely that the conscript rabble would have difficulties to achieve the same level of artistry when decorating their shield. Some would probably even just show their team colours, others like the  chap to the right, might signal his allegiance with a telling noose.




These Perry-sculpted billmen are very nice, but I have  too many of the same. I have about 15 more should anyone be interested in trading them for Bretonnian metal archers, you have a deal.

Yeah, the converting is certainly fun...never thought it would be...personally I blame Captain Blood
