Thanks!  lol

I did a couple of posts on my purchases for The Chicago Way and then a rules overview, with comparisons to Dead Man's Hand if anyone is interested. The vehicle mechanics looks like it's going to be very interesting!

Hopefully I can get a test run AAR up over the weekend  :D

Nice reviews.
Don't play much DMH so looking forward to trying out TCW at club.

Just digging out my old Cthulhu & VBCW figures for a couple of suitable gangs to start off.

Nice blogposts.

I love the rules. I like dmh, so that was no surprise, but the vehicle rules add a lot of character. I really liked how they work in my first game.

I don't have a blog, I intend to post my progress on the lead adventuere forum, but my mate Patrick took some photo's and posted them on a dutch facebook group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/DutchMiniatureWargaming/permalink/1196701517007224/

Cant really recall how things exactly went, but it was something like this. The prohibition agents were informed of some liqour trading gangsters so went after them. 4 of the 5 took a car. The fifth went running and got shot (OOF). The car drove to the gangsters, who all 5 had funny red cultist clothes ;-) I tried some drive by shooting. Killed 1 and wounded another. The gangsters damaged the car severly so I decided to get out of it because trying to drive it was not something the seemed to work anymore. And then the other gangsters returned with their car and we got in a nasty shoot out. Resulting in my leader dead and some other victums.

We used my strange aeons and dead mans hand models as proxies because all chicago gangs are still metal and resin (vehicles).

Update on some customizations of some 4Ground buildings for 'The Chicago Way'

First up is Burbanks's Ice Cream and Soda shop. A perfect business for a corner building  :D
*please excuse the sidewalks, we're in the process of contracting out a new cement company  lol*

Clapp Radio and Electric

And some adverts on a few row houses. Still lots of weathering to do on the buildings to get them to match the signs better.

Lots more photos and the build process here

We also have a group on Facebook for 'The Chicago Way', open invitation if anyone is interested  :D

Progress is looking excellent.  I'm not particularly interested in the period, but I do like some of the buildings 4Ground is putting out for it.  It does look terribly expensive to do a full board.

I'd definitely consider looking into Crescent Root stuff as well for an easy way to fill the board with some great factory bits:

I have an older out-of-print set and it's a lot of excellent materials for a supremely reasonable price.

Thanks!  :) I agree it can be expensive to fill a board, I'm always on the lookout for sales and clearance items though, so rarely pay retail despite the huge amount of buildings I have.

Way ahead of you regarding Crescent Root  lol The updated factory set I haven't taken pictures of yet

I think Mark has some of the best buildings out on the market today, and unmatched in quality for price. Highly recommended  :)

All the posters really add tons of character. These houses are thick with atmosphere.

Love the telephone booth and park bench, where did you come by these? I'll try and come by Thursday night to see your game, it looks wonderful. And after all, I only live about three hours from Sinclair, Wyoming.

Those are from an O-Scale street accessories set by Woodland Scenics. It also includes trashcans, fire plugs, and a few other cool bits. Recommended!

O-Scale train stuff works really well with 28mm minis.

Ivor13, your buildings look amazing!

Hmm... the parking meters, phone booth, and that particular style of mail box give it more of a 40's vibe -- or even much, much later. For me, it would feel more 1920's-ish without those pieces. Just a thought, not a critique.

You've got a really great table. Beautiful work!

Thanks for the comments guys! And please stop by  :)

Dave is correct, Woodland Scenics - it's listed under 'Street Accessories'.

Agreed Dave on the accessories, but the while the TCW rules fall under 1920's, the board itself I'd like to keep under a broader pulp feel to be able to use it for other rule sets. The building signs, cars, lamp posts, etc. probably even my railroad crossing signs, I'm sure none of it would be historically correct for the 1920's  lol

I'd even bought two of 4Grounds Subway entrances for the board even though Chicago didn't have a working subway system until well into the 40's. I didn’t use them because I felt they were too big upon completion - they were listed as 28mm but found under the Gothic City line which is made for the 32mm Batman Miniatures Game.

Too bad to, perfect addition to a board and allow an almost 'Clue' type of underground move to move from one side of the table to the other  :D
