Modern/SciFi bullet trains for less than $20
« on: April 25, 2016, 03:09:07 PM »
Some of you may have seen this train in my 28mm Mech Attack topic
http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=89387.0

The Train is a cheap toy I found at the resale shop. It wasn't working but it had one of those setups where it was motorized to randomly drive around and it had light and sound. I pulled all that out and just set it on top of the tracks. I had a request for sourcing at another forum and that got me looking at various bullet train toys.

I found it on Amazon.

Seems a bit expensive at 15 bucks, even if it does look nice painted.
Luckly, there's also a cheaper version that has a basic interior, clear windows and a slightly more realistic roof.

I also have this train waiting for paint...

It's a better value and better proportioned overall for 28mm, even if it is a bit chibi in length.

The doors on both of my are too small. On the smaller train I glued on some doors I cut from pieces of Mantic Battlezone sprue. On the bigger train, they aren't as small so I'll just leave them as-is.

While searching I found another.  I'm really liking the angular look of this similar one so much that I might buy it and paint it up instead of the blue one above..

Nice! Thanks for the idea.  Have you painted or modded yours?
I should look these things up on Ebay and see what they are going for. I really want the more angular bullet train....

Unfortunately, still haven't touched it. I had no luck searching for other bullet trains, specially a set  :(
