Cleared a little space off my workbench.
« on: May 02, 2016, 07:20:33 PM »
I am forcing myself to finish what is on my workbench before I even approach a new project.  Saying that, this weekend I finished a couple of small terrain pieces that have been in and amongst the clutter.
First off is some pipeline sections.  Not much to see here but there you go.  Cast from Hirst arts molds.

Next is my green house.  From Warbases with PE plants from 4D and GW.

Last is a simple campfire for my gypsy campsite.  The embers were done using Richard Windrows wonderful technique.

I have way to many of them.
Just a wargames butterfly, I guess. lol
Well done on your green house.
Maybe I need one? ;)

Nice work! The greenhouse turned out great and I am surprised how effective a piece the campfire is. It actually conveys  a sense of cold to me. I guess that I experienced too many cold camps working over the years.

Cleared off some more space.

Bases are from 4Ground and trees are from Pegasus Hobbies.  They come off a bit tall for the tabletop (read more realistic scale) but I like the effect.

Love that greenhouse. Have you got a link for the plants?

In the green house they are from two manufactures.  First is from Games Workshop.

It looks like they are out of production since they are showing as not available on their site.
The second type if plant I picked up from 4D modeling down in London.  They are etched ferns in 1:50 scale.

I have been sitting on the photo etched plants for ages since I wanted to have them protected.  The green house fit the bill.
If you are wondering about the palms on the last post they are from Pegasus hobbies.

If you get these I would highly suggest that you only get the style "A "in either height.  Their style "B" fronds are not quite as robust so they can and do break off.
Hope that helps.

Some lovely story pieces, and with a nice feel.( I do like the fact that there's bits of caravan in the earlier pictures.)
I've been toying with idea of doing some palm tree bases just hadn't set on anyone's.Just how tall are they? As I've no issue with scale compression but the odd tall one would add a little depth to each base.

Thanks for the comps.
There are four types of palm trees there.  The two tallest are in the nine to ten inch range.  The next size down are in the five to seven inch range.  The smallest ones were cheap plastic palms and I cut them down to make the undergrowth.  All of the standing palms are from Pegasus Hobbies.  If you do use these then only get the type A palm (on the right in the attached image).  The type B has the long hanging fronds and they do break easily (on the left).  Hope that helps.

Last post on this one since I am now caught up.  Just a couple of things and the rest is in my frostgrave thread.

Now I can start on the new project.  Should take a while.

Hope you like.
