Samurai era farm implements?
« on: 15 May 2016, 01:14:22 PM »
Hi guys, I'm currently putting together a table for Ronin based around a small hamlet of subsistence farmers.  I've got a large plowed field, soon to be planted with either cabbages or kabocha, but that leaves me with an issue that I can't leave unanswered on the board- how did they plough the field?

Which brings me to my question for you guys- does anyone have any reference materials for larger Japanese farm implements?  Ideally it needs to be a man-powered plough, not an animal drawn as I don't want my farmers to have access to horses/cows etc.

As a side question, does anyone know of any suppliers for 28mm scale rustic brooms, shovels, rakes etc? The sort of clutter one might find around a farmstead.

Thanks guys,
Alex

Some basic tools can be found http://www.thebattleforge.co.uk/engineer-pioneer-farm-tools-80-p.asp

They also have sacks etc but they are not cheap...

Nice find, thank you. I can use one or two of those realistically for my setting.

Joroas, are those still available?
I seem to have missed them on the Perry site.
Thanks.

Thank you Joroas! I already have the rice bale barricades and the villagers, but I had forgotten about the peasants with farm implements.  Do you know if the 'weapons' are separate componants to the bodies by any chance?

Its not a plow, but 4Ground Terrain makes laser cut Japanese style farm carts that might make nice scatter terrain for your board.
