Plastic Cybermen
« on: 15 January 2009, 10:29:54 PM »
UK comic shops currently have a Dr Who comic with 5 free plastic cybermen on the cover. Nothing spectacular but 5 28mm figures.
Next issue is due to be 5 daleks (although no indication of scale)
Gary, Glynis, and Alasdair (there are three of us, but we are too mean to have more than one login)

Do they have hex shaped bases? Maybe they're trying to move extra stock of the collectible minis they recently did.

Jibbery style oinkery which don't make no damn sense.

Not examined them closely yet, but they are on plain round bases and unpainted.
Don't know if they are hard or soft plastic or even whether they can be painted.

What we need on the forum is a tame newsagent.

someone on the Doctor Who Miniatures Game yahoo group has posted a pic of them... they are hideous, stocky, little detail (none on the torso)... I dread to think what the Daleks might look like...

I've just seen these Cybermen minis in the local newsagent, and can confirm that they're AWFUL. The pics on the DWMG Yahoo page don't do them justice - very poor detail and terribly proportioned. And they're fat too - possibly only good for chants of 'Who ate all the 9cyber) pies?'

In a word: avoid.

I've seen these Cybermen and agree that the sculpting is not very good, however I would suggest that early 15mm wargame figures were modelled and sculpted in the same short and dumby style and once painted looked OK.

For anyone thinking of wargaming Dr. Who in 15mm scale they could be OK.

Well, not wonderful, but, like my Marks and Spencer keyring Daleks, they only pop up in the odd Pulp or Dad's Army game, so at 5 for £2 they'll do for me.

Those cybermen look like someone took a blowtorch to them.

If they didn't, maybe someone should.

Truly awful (the minis, not the painting).
